Fueled by Tea Party supporters, conservatives and high-interest GOP primary voters, former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain now leads the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

snip

Cain checks in as the first choice of 27 percent of Republican voters in the poll, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 23 percent and Perry at 16 percent. After those three, it’s Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 11 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 8 percent, Bachmann at 5 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman at 3 percent.

Bret Baier announced this on Special Report right after A.B. Stoddard condescendingly declared that while Herman Cain “is charming” he basically has no shot at winning the nomination.

She laughed when Bret read it, one of those “can you believe it?” laughs. I have one MORE reason for Herman Cain to win the nomination: to shove it in the face of the “we know best” pundits.

Fueled by Tea Party supporters

Just the ones who think we should tax tea--and everything else we buy. Time to throw them in Boston Harbor, along with 9-9-9.

Time will tell if the Kool Aid drinkers dominate the Tea Party. Hopefully not, because 9-9-9 will get Obama re-elected.

Maybe once we will get a real, honest to goodness outsider non establishment candidate.

Wow, what a breath of fresh air that would be.

I’m guessing that when the lower tier candidates bow out, their support will likely transfer to Cain, not Romney.

Let me just get it out of the way...

Cain can’t win! He’s got no money/organization/experience.

He’s a liar/moron/loser.

HE WORKED FOR THE *GASP* FED!!!

(Go, Cain!!)

Hillary laughed in 2007 when asked about the possibility of not getting the nomination.

Cain’t imagine in my wildest dreams, that the tea party members will go for a natioal sales tax.

An endorement for Herman would mean an endorsement of his plan.

To get the government out of my finances, I’d be thrilled with the Fair Tax.

I like Cain...

I like the 999 taxes plan...

But...

How practical is it?

I mean, once Cain is in the White House, how likely is it that, he’ll actually propose the plan, and how likely is it that congress will actually take it up or even discuss it seriously?

I am so praying that the MSM and the early primary States don’t chose our candidate this time - the race cards that Obambi and company are planning to spew all over the table will play havoc with any opponent that is not supported by us, the 52% ! Cain can neutralize the race cards - Anybody but Romney - Please!

As others have pointed out, 9-9-9 is an idea, it's a starting point. No president gets everything he wants or campaigns on. It takes a lot of legislation to get ideas passed (look at the Jobs Bill — Obama can spout about it all day long, but it isn't going to pass). So if 9-9-9 doesn't end up passing muster, then it won't pass. But maybe 9-12-0 does pass muster. Who knows.

It will take time and analysis to get any new plan vetted and passed. The point is Cain is thinking outside the box, outside the establishment norms, and that's a good thing, given the state of our economy and our nation.

Let's let this play out and see where it goes. Don't write Cain off just because you don't like 9-9-9. I don't like certain things about every candidate. But I doubt any of us will every have the perfect candidate. So we have to choose the one with the greatest potential for leadership, values, character, sound principals, and definitely the ability and intent to surround him/herself with world-class advisers.

Time will bring the cream of the crop to the top.

So where is Perry’s tax plan?

Oh yeah, he forgot to bring it to the economic debate. (”Can I have a three day extension, professor?”)

The fact is we are on the verge of a severe collapse in our standard of living unless we 1) re-incentivize the production of goods within the U.S. and 2) raise the abysmal savings rate.

Cain’s plan is the only one that gets to the root of these problems.

Of course we need to cut regulations and cut spending and open up domestic energy production as well.

But the Cain tax plan would provide a solid foundation for manufacturing in the United States.

Where are the jobs going to be for all of those tens of millions of illegals and their children whom Rick Perry wants to legalize, since our manufacturing base is going overseas, if we don’t turn it around and soon?
