only a week ago or so right here at free republic, posters were begging Christie to run for President. I said he had never had his conservatism tested under any kind of fire and, as such, he was not presently the best conservative candidate. well, his conservatism has now been weighed and measured and found wanting. No surprise here.

No one is surprised at Christie endorsing Romney (both RINOs) but I doubt this will be a game-changer for Romney. The only conservative that really wanted Christie for president was Ann Coulter. I agree with 'NavyCanDo' (post #19) that Sarah Palin could do the conservative cause a big favor by endorsing Herman Cain. If she wants to play king-maker, this is the time. Romney must be stopped.

As for Cain's 9-9-9 tax plan, I'm against the imposition of a national sales tax that does not eliminate the income tax. Remember that the original income tax (16th amendment) instituted in 1913 was 1% on those making $3,000. (equal to $67,000. in 2011) or more, with 7% the top limit on incomes over $500,000. (11 million, today). The point is that (a) once a tax is imposed, it is never, ever removed and, (b) as sure as the sun rises, the rate will go up. In my state, we have an onerous 6.3% sales tax so under Cain's plan, I would be paying a total of 15.3% in tax ever time I purchased so much as a stick of gum. On a $30 meal in a restaurant, I would pay an additional $4.00 in federal and state sales taxes. On a $30,000 new car, I would be paying the federal and state governments a total of $4,000. in tax. That is outrageous - and unacceptable. Not while I'm still paying income taxes, to boot.

Herman Cain needs to answer some tough questions about his tax plan but frankly, unless there were a huge change in the congressional political environment, I can't see a 'President Cain' getting this done so I'll still support the 'Hermanator'. He is intelligent, accomplished and articulate as well as bold. Oh yeah, one more thing; he's black. This is driving the left crazy. They trotted out a few of their usual loons (Cornel West, Harry Belefonte) to call Mr. Cain stupid names but he basically flicked them aside, as they deserved. Herman Cain continues to grow in stature and leftist name-callers only show his superiority as a candidate and as a man.

So the big question now is, who will Palin endorse?

Wow, I’m totally shocked, NOT, YAWN ....

The only reason Christie was being urged to get into the race was to detract from Cain who was surging in a big way, folks are stupid and think it would have hurt Romney but they were wrong, it would have hurt Cain. Thus they’re still at it, this is all being orchestrated by the GOP, you know, you’re party ...

A week or so ago Christie was the tough conservative that Freepers hoped would enter the race.

Today, he is a fat RINO.

Yawn.

Endorsements don’t help pols. They only, maybe, tell you something about the endorser.

BREAKING: One establishment RINO Republican endorses another RINO Republican... "Meet the 'new boss', same as the old boss!"

The "establishment Republicans" can go suck an egg. If they think for one minute we are going to support, work for, and vote for the MORMON CULT LEADER (Romney is a "Temple Mormon", therefore he is a leader in the CULT), RINO Romney, they are out of their minds!

Go ahead, make Romney the Republican candidate and watch him LOSE! Just like McCain and Dole before him. If he is lucky, Mormon Mit will win UTAH and Mass... good luck with that.
