Michigan has a border with Canada that is also a river, right down the middle of the river. There is no way you could put up a fence there.

Michigan's border with Canada is mostly the Great Lakes, but that only reinforces your point. They are talking about a border fence on the northern border, when really the two places they cannot control (the Great Lakes and the Rockies) with a fence completely negate the purpose of a fence. All of the smuggling and alien entry is through those places anyway.

But, we are left with the very same issue: How to get real border control outta these chooches?

The only way I see is boots on the ground and someone willing to enforce it. Fences where practical.

The catch n release has to go too. Texas catches them, turns them over to INS who promptly turn them loose.
