That movement was about Nam. I marched in the hardhat parade in NYC in May 70. More than 500K marched in support of Nixon. The left NEVER succeeded in attracting American workers. They’ve got the leaders now and the rest could join in. The idea of economic fairness is not usually a popular cause, but as people come to believe that the wealthy have caused this recession and still profited from it, anger could rise. Many ordinary folks are like my late dad. A hardhat who poured concrete for roads and foundations. He voted for Nixon in 68, Ike, Ford. But the fact that his 15K a year was taxed ar a higher rate tha 15K in capital gains angered him. He felt it dishonored his labor. He had no gripe with the rich, he didnt want equal outcome, but equal treatment at the hand of govt. People like him could find movements like today’s attractive.

Thank you for your intelligent comments that are directed at this issue. Most of the other posts in this thread add nothing to the conversation....pictures from 40 years ago and anti this and that. There is a very serious issue here and it needs to be looked at seriously. I agree this could grow very large, there are a lot of very angry people today, many who have lost their jobs and many who are now stuck with working part time, temp, low paying jobs far below what they had just a few years ago. A lot of that anger is directed at Wall street and the banks that got huge amounts of cash from people who are having a hard time making ends meet.

Thanx for your response. My posts were otherwise answered by a cacaphony of images, speeches, and what not from the Nazi Soviet Pact to Code Pink. None of these dealt with my point. Screaming the commies are coming is not an answer to what’s happening in NYC. This may fade out or these mutts could be joined by real people, people angry and alienated by today’s economic realities. The presence of union leaders whose unions consist of bus drivers and teachers, people you sit next to in church, wait on line at the checkout, and who take turns with you driving the kids to little league is an ominous turn best countered with ideas not red baiting when the Wall came down a generation ago.

Thank you for your intelligent comments that are directed at this issue [referring to "xkaydet65"'s idiotic/clueless statement that this movement has nothing to do with the 60s-era "anti-war" protests. Meanwhile both are part of the same decades old communist movement-ETL]. Most of the other posts in this thread add nothing to the conversation....pictures from 40 years ago and anti this and that...

Both you and "xkaydet65" are way over your head here. You clearly have no clue whatsoever as to what this movement is about DESPITE my spelling it out for you. For shame.
