Calling the Oregon lawyers who want to save his life “tree huggers,” a death row inmate is asking a judge to waive all his appeals and to proceed with his execution.

“It's probably breaking so many hearts to have to come in here over and over and over when we need to take care of this,” inmate Gary Haugen said earlier this year, according to the Los Angeles Times. “You know, we need to put this to sleep. That's probably the wrong expression.” If Haugen gets his way, his execution would be Oregon's first in 14 years, and a psychologist testified Tuesday that he's competent to make the decision to accept that fate.

The irony is the reason he ended up in prison was because he beat his girlfriend’s mother to death because she wanted her daughter to have an abortion. I’d think there are better ways to explain your pro life view.

Maybe it had more to do with pride than aything else. The Mother probably knew from the beginning what a nutcase this guy was, and when confronted, told him in no uncertain terms that woman would have to be crazy to bring a child of his into the world.

That right there could account for why he beat her to death.

He's calling Oregon's bluff.
New Jersey had the death penalty on its books for a very long time during which some of the most gruesome and vicious crimes were committed including serial murders of young girls. Goes without saying, they were not deemed capital crimes.

Gilmore redux?

He's bluffing.

How long has it been since Oregon has had an execution?

Here in Washington State the death penalty is still on the books. Although it has been surmised that it will never be used again. They gave Gary Ridgway (Greenriver Killer) a life sentence instead so they could get information on all of the unsolved murders he did.

Of course now it will be “Well, if the Greenriver Killer was not executed, my client shouldn’t be as he was nowhere near as bad.”

Unless it’s a white man who murdered a minority, there will be no executions on the Left Coast.

While not exactly justice, it sure is poetic.

Having spent a day or two in jail during my drinking days, I believe I’d rather be dead than to have to live out my life in prison. Don’t know if I’d actually have the nerve to ask for it or not.

On the other hand, I’m 66 years old, how much life do I have left?

It’s amazing that this criminal is being more straight and honest about this than his Leftist, government-paid defense attorney(s) who probably love criminals/predators who think he has flipped his lid and probably want to shut him up.

You know things are really screwed up when this happens.
