Obama Tells Congressional Black Caucus To 'Stop Grumbling'

President Barack Obama addressed the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Phoenix Award Dinner Saturday night to send a message to an increasingly restless base that he has not forsaken them.

Members of the CBC spent much of the August recess hosting jobs fairs across the country — and on occasion were not shy about venting their frustration with the nation's first black President.

But Obama used the occasion to make it clear that while progress has been slow, he has not forgotten them, adding that he will need their help to pass his legislative agenda — including his jobs bill — and to win reelection next year.

"And I know at times that gets folks discouraged. I know. I listen to some of you all. I understand that. And nobody feels that burden more than I do. Because I know how much we have invested in making sure that we’re able to move this country forward. But you know, more than a lot of other folks in this country, we know about hard. The people in this room know about hard. And we don’t give in to discouragement."

"Throughout our history, change has often come slowly. Progress often takes time. We take a step forward, sometimes we take two steps back. Sometimes we get two steps forward and one step back. But it’s never a straight line. It’s never easy. And I never promised easy. Easy has never been promised to us. But we’ve had faith. We have had faith. We’ve had that good kind of crazy that says, you can’t stop marching."

not only is he talking down to them - but talking 'street black' AND pretending his history is the same as theirs, i.e., slave ancestors.

His ancestors connection with slaves (he has NO American black ancestors) were as slave HOLDERS and SELLERS.

I'm thinking that a lot of those in the Black Caucus know this. And I'm thinking they just might be further insulted that he stooped to speaking "black."

How insanely insulting.

Reminds me of another politician a few years ago out in bird hunting country: "I'm gonna git me a duck.")

I believe that was the alternative he was implying, yes.

Hey Black Caucus and Blacks in general - “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me 79,987 times, shame on me for being terminally stoooooopid.”

330,000 northern whites died between 1861-65 so that Obama could use Affirmative Action and race baiting.

The loathsome pretender was in full Ghetto Speak. He dropped all final consonants, notice? Speakin’, marchin’, goin’, votin’, workin’, etc. He mangled sentences. His face was twisted and nasty (True Obama). And the Rancid Media did not call him on it. This is Obama’s base: the stupid, the uneducated, the career welfare, the criminal. What a show.

That was THE most UNpresidential speech EVER. Waaaay beneath the dignity of the office. He did, however, live up to his community organizer/street agitator resume.

If I were your average African-American, I’d be so insulted, not to mention good and ticked off, at his playing as if he’s ‘one of us.’ He hasn’t ever lived the black American experience. He chose, while attending expensive, prestigious, private universities, to identify with it, but he has not lived one minute of it. He knows nothing about ‘the struggle,’ and how ‘hard’ it is, except second-hand.

Has anyone seen the part of the Obama speech at this event where he goes with a black style dialog, encouraging blacks to march with him? Link?

Obama is really feeling the heat. His thin skin and the cover that he receives from the MSM isn’t going to help him in the coming year. His record of achievement speaks for itself. It might be the beginning of a meltdown.

Why should unemployed people take off their bedroom slippers unless there are JOBS! Marching for no reason is just so much political theater and many black folks are tired of being mere props....
