UT is one of the more expensive schools. We have much less expensive colleges and community or junior colleges.

They can get some scholarships or school aide, if they qualify.

In the meantime, the Feds won’t allow Texas to even identify the families who are here, much less deport them, forcing us to educate, feed and give medical care at the schools.

There’s no free college education - the deal is instate tuition if they live here 3 years and graduate from a Texas High School and stay out of trouble with the law. (citizens only need to live here one year, and it doesn’t matter where they went to high school or graduated.)

So, if illegal families are being drawn to Texas, it’s for 3 years prior to college, they graduate and stay out of trouble with the law.

Did not say they were being drawn to TX.

As I posted, OK all the pro-TX education of “undocumented” students posters have clarified that the students are “only” getting their out-of-state tuition waived. Great. Glad there are some criteria such as 3 years residency, stay out of trouble, etc. altho someone else posted that granting preferences is illegal under a Federal 1996 Immigration Bill..... So it is illegal, but then they are illegal. Ah the rule of law, no one cares.

Don’t forget that all students are competing for loans, scholarships, grants, jobs, etc.

I am concerned that Perry did not say something to effect that tho the TX Legislature voted for this, he would handle differently on national scale...

What does it mean to go to college? To major in mexican studies or some other humanities degree and get indoctrinated by some radical communist professor?

I understand that Texas has some reasonable boundaries on the freebies it gifts to illegally entered college students and that is good, also good is that one doesn’t penalize the kid for the sins of the parent — yet it is bad that it is a reward to the parents for such bad behavior.

Me, I am for open borders between equals, like Canada. Many years ago around the the time of The Republic (of Texas) we and May-he-koh where equals. Sometime around the time of the shoemaker Pancho Villa that changed. That part of the US grew beyond the ability to keep a safe border with the immature and sickened governments in the lands South of the Border.

We need not only a strong border, but even an armed police action in Northern Mexico border estados where we install native forces trained and subordinate to our own government, military and police. We also need to decriminalize marijuana, and lessen the penalties for cocaine and heroin. In other words, abandon the Wat on Drugs.

By doing so in two generations — 37 years — we will be able to open out borders because we will then be equals.

Returning to the near point. Mr. Perry.

I object most to Mr. Perry’s bleeding heart style emotional style of defending his executive choices, and of his inability or unwillingness to give credit to the most valid and obvious objections against those policies, he instead turns the argument into that which the despicable Democrats and Marxists use often. Argument by hyper emotional inflation of a few clearly sympatico examples.

The young woman will cervical cancer, or the young student here because his illegal entering parents dragged him here. These are examples upon which a logical, honest and rational person — a TRUE LEADER, a Ronald Reagan — uses to inform and make real a argument of ideas and ideals.

Mr. Perry doesn’t do so. He grabs the dead rat in his maw and drags it onto the supper table defiantly. He makes only two arguments. One: IT WAS MY DECISION TO MAKE. Two: ONLY THE MOST HEARTLESS WOULD DISAGREE WITH ME.

I’m sorry Texas. Mr. Perry may be a good governor for your Republic-become-State today, but he will be a terrible leader for America. Unless and until he gets a muy serioso attitude adjustment.
