As far as I'm concerned, a criminal record doesn't negate those rights. People who did stupid crap as teenagers and non violent offenders have as much right to protect themselves as anyone else. Violent offenders shouldn't be free anyway.

In most jurisdictions. It has to be ruled a lawful killing by the prosecutors office. If some agencies or jurisdictions do it differently, then yes I question the legality. But under law, that is the way it is supposed to be done.

That’s what they SAID, but there is a large gap between what is said by bureaucrats and what is actually done (look at 0bama.) It’s been three weeks and not even the name of the irresponsible moron who killed the woman has been released. Coincidentally there was an “accidental” shooting of some black kid by some friend/relative the same day and the name of the shooter was released in hours.
