Perry was having back surgery.

this is what he said about the bill:

Perry:

“Texas owes it to the brave law enforcement officials, who put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and communities, to give them the discretion they need to adequately do their jobs,” Perry said in a statement. “Abolishing sanctuary cities in Texas, using the federal Secure Communities program and ensuring that only individuals who are here legally can obtain a valid Texas driver’s license sends a clear message that Texas will not turn a blind eye to those breaking our laws.”-——————

They passed the drivers license id passed.

But it was struck down by a Federal Judge.

The Sanctuary City bill failed

The voter id did get through and is law in Texas.

This is good. The failure of a sanctuary bill was the result of cronyism though,I was there heard and participated in the hearings. It was pure theatre. There was no urgency or leadership from those in power to get it passed even after a cop was run over with a pregnant wife at home. The cop was getting information from a witness about a car accident which in turn involved another illegal alien that fled back to MX. Perry did not exert himself in my opinion. He has no passion for this issue and never will. It will be up to the voters to decide if they will let this feature pass unnoticed.
