LOS ANGELES (CBS) — There may be high drama in Washington over the nation’s economic future, but local football fans on Thursday warned the president against going into overtime during his address to the nation.
KNX 1070′s John Brooks reports revelers at a Hooters restaurant in Hollywood are ready for some football next Thursday.
“He shouldn’t be messing with football, that’s for sure,” said one man.
Some patrons even vowed to start drinking during the pregame show before the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints square off in the NFL season debut.
“I would watch it and listen to his speech before the game,” another fan said. “I believe his speech is going to be longer than an hour.”
But with the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks just around the corner, a wave of patriotism could very well wash over the suds-soaked sports bar.
Or not.
“As patriotic as most people are — especially now, this time of year, the tenth-year anniversary of Sept. 11 — and his jobs program, which a lot of people have been waiting for, I would imagine that some people would watch the beginning of his speech,” one man predicted.

The NFL season, while lacking in any kind of substance other than perhaps as a perverse display of cultural devolution is still of far greater significance than anything The Usurper has to say.
Further proof he’s irrelevant.

It’ll be more than an hour and he’ll show up late.
I think he’s doing it before the game now, the speech that , no plan though, you have to reelect him to find out his plan.
I stopped watching the National Felons League over 20 years ago. I don’t miss it a bit.
I’ll be watching reruns of Green Acres during Zero’s Teleprompter’s campaign speech next week.

I must admit the whole fanatic team worship is sickening.
And I must admit I do watch football on TV in September sometimes.
When I am not tuning broadheads or riflescopes.( or whacking piggies, or fishing )
So the people who are out of work, who can’t find jobs and are stressing about it, get a couple of hours to get it off their mind by watching footbal, and OBozo wants to use that time to remind them that our economy sucks and there are no jobs.
That’s kind of like delaying a cancer patient’s chemo therapy to remind him how bad cancer can be.
