Teachable moment for “back-to-school”, I’d venture.

I wonder how much of that is from Bloomberg shutting the city down for a day? How much loss from his over-reaction?

I get the losses from tourism and direct damage, but back-to-school? Are those parents going to not bother buying their kids’ school supplies now?

I’m not buying these huge losses. Some people might not spend money at the local resort for a weekend but unless they bury this money in a hole, that money will be spend somewhere else. And that will help the economy. The losses are in the physical damage that was done to both public and private property. That’s a real loss. But because a Casino lost some business for a weekend, I don’t believe that’s a big deal overall. These losses are an exaggeration and perhaps a ploy to get more Federal money.

Instead of bitchin about it, they should be praising God that they missed the real chaos that would have occured if it had maintained strength...

How can they count someone not buying as a loss? This kind of wordsmithing annoys the heck out of me.

New Yorkers, businessmen, bankers, stock brokers, store owners.....you voted for the asshole. Don’t complain when he hypes up a situation that causes you financial loss, all because he didn’t want the media to concentrate on his miserable image and poll numbers.....deal with it and keep your mouths shut.

However C. Britt Beemer, of America's Research Group, told MailOnline losses will be ‘catastrophic’ for businesses, as this weekend would have seen 10 per cent of back-to-school shopping.

So maybe next week will see 20% of back to school shopping. Sheesh.

Still not as bad as the “multi-billion hit” it took from the Obama coronation. Those east coasters may want to consider this a dry run (or wet run) for the new norm of being without electricity once Barry and his ‘RATS close down all the power plants. It’s coming.

New York comes way out ahead as a result of the storm. The damages were at the most $10 billion but could have been as much as $35 billion generating a savings over $25 million.

Subtract $10 billion from $35 billion and NY is at least $25 billion ahead.

he press is going to milk this for what it's worth. Same with the pols. They think if they keep repeating themselves it will eventually become the truth. An as for all the NY bashers, you are no different them the dems you constantly complain about. You complain that the MSM never tells the truth about fly over country. So you just go and make stupid comments about all NYers. For as we all know, only east and west coasters vote for libs, there are none outside of those areas, right?

We need a nation wide Hurricane tax to relieve New York... NOW!! New York needs our HELP!!!!!

MTV has also announced a rap/gaga/pregnant teen concert. A charity concert solves every problem and makes all the music jesters "feel" cool. we can call it.... the "Blowing in the Wind" concert.

First we need to mobilize the National Guard and maybe fund them with $1 Billion dollars in order to put all the lawn chairs that got tipped over off the ground and set them upright.

Another Billion in order to get unionized members laid off of work to pull all the umbrellas back into their original position and finally some more union members to actually close the umbrellas.

Oooops forgot that inverted to standard position is one job, but closing the umbrella falls under the Umbrella Closers brotherhood and is a separate job.

Finally a couple of hundred million dollars to do a study as to why water tends to go UP when you live in low lying places near tidal plains and rivers and the flow of drainage water is less than the water flow into an area.

We also need to get rid of electricity... all the lines that carry that stuff ALWAYS gets knocked down and you could get SHOCKED and DIE if it hits you.

Come to think about it we need something like the 2nd Fleet to evacuate everybody on the east coast in case it gets windy. After all they left, why couldn't they take about 30 million people on the boats with them? The ARK BUILDERS/Buggy Whip/Telegraph Operators Brotherhood can make giant arks and sell them to the east coast for the next category 1 storm that blows through.

Please send all your money, especially those making over $200,000.00, evil oil companies and fundamentalist Christians (not the cool ones that believe in abortion and that the ten commandments are stupid).

Anyone receiving government assistance (78% of the population of the urban East coast), trial lawyers, any elected or appointed government official, PUBLIC school teachers and illegal immigrants need not donate... you've already done enough and are suffering more than we could imagine.

We've also received word that a LARGE YELLOW OBJECT was seen over the Asian horizon and is proceeding towards Europe and we believe will also hit the East Coast sometime tomorrow at approximately 6:19 in the morning. It will stay in the sky for about 13 hours,13 minutes and 42 seconds. PLEASE TAKE COVER AND PREPARE.

DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT IT. Temperatures will tend to increase dramatically as well. If you decide to use a fan to blow wind across your face, take care to not HIT YOURSELF IN THE FACE with the back in forth movement of the cardboard or paper hand made fan. We recommend that you immediately notify the Brotherhood of Fan Blowers/Wavers union #232 in order to provide this service. A one time fan tax will be added to your property taxes next year. Same exemptions apply ( lawyers, union members, public assistance, PUBLIC school teachers, politicians and illegal aliens).

We are also monitoring for the possibility of much cooler temperatures that may be the result of global warming which may hit very hard starting in late November and definitely occurring by late December/early January.

We will keep you posted as events develop and our sources find new information to assist you. On a more serious note please don't forget to move air in and out of your lungs as several of our fellow citizens have. It's a preventable cause of death and needs to be taught in public schools.

That is all..... Take care and Spiritual Ephemeral Being (not necessarily male) Bless New York and Spiritual Ephemeral Being (not necessarily male) America !!!
