Firearms illegally trafficked under the ATF’s Fast and Furious program turned up at the scenes of at least 11 “violent crimes” in this country in addition to being involved in the death of a U.S. Border Patrol agent in southern Arizona last year, the Justice Department has acknowledged to Congress. Although Justice did not provide any details about those crime scenes, it has been learned that the additional violent crimes occurred in cities such as Phoenix, where Operation Fast and Furious was managed, and as far away as El Paso, Texas, where a total of 42

Of course, just like any other bonehead fed-gov management drone, they were tripping on their shoelaces the entire time, pissing off the staff that they forced to do this and were reported to the general public when the inevitable occurred.

And the BATFEces response?

Same as always…

ATF promotes supervisors in controversial gun operation

William G. McMahon, who was the ATF's deputy director of operations in the West, where the illegal trafficking program was focused, and William D. Newell and David Voth.

McMahon was promoted Sunday to deputy assistant director of the ATF's Office of Professional Responsibility and Security Operations — the division that investigates misconduct by employees and other problems.

“I share responsibility for mistakes that were made,” said ATF supervisor William G. McMahon about Operation Fast and Furious. (U.S. Congress / August 14, 2011)

That was exactly TWO DAYS AGO. Today he is promoted.

Kenneth E. Melson, the ATF's acting director, said in an agency-wide confidential email announcing the promotion that McMahon was among ATF employees being rewarded because of "the skills and abilities they have demonstrated throughout their careers."

Newell was the special agent in charge of the field office for Arizona and New Mexico, where Fast and Furious was conducted. On Aug. 1, the ATF announced he would become special assistant to the assistant director of the agency's Office of Management in Washington.

Voth was an on-the-ground team supervisor for the operation, and last month he was moved to Washington to become branch chief for the ATF's tobacco division.

They were expendable. The end justifies the means.

Thanks Nachum. This is an impeachable offense — but first, Zero needs to be pressured into throwing Holder under the bus.

Maybe this “splains” how three key players in OFF got promoted and moved to Washington. Gotta hand it ATF, when they get in a rut, they stay in a rut ! (The leading perps in Ruby Ridge got the same “punnishment.). >PS

I give this guy Serrano a lot of credit, he is the only MSMer covering this story.

I hope he ends up with a Pulitzer.

More likely to win a spitzer for his efforts.

A JHP likelier than either.

That’s two stories about corruption at the ATF by the LA Times. Either they have suddenly become honest in their reporting (unlikely),or they smell blood in the water and are going to be among the sharks, or they believe that Gunrunner is yesterday’s news and they can safely report it because no one cares.

There's really been very little mainstream coverage, they're so covering Obama's butt and all. Even FoxNews isn't giving it the coverage it should have.
