Ed Rendell: Hillary Clinton can't resist White House run

By: Reid J. Epstein August 15, 2011 09:46 AM EDT

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said on Monday he doesn’t believe Hillary Clinton is ready to retire from public life and the possibility of someday becoming the first woman president “would probably be too much for her to resist.”

“I think, and this is just my thinking, that if she leaves after the president’s first term is over and she leaves and she teaches, does something like that, and rests, I think the possibility of being president and being the first woman president in history would probably be too much for her to resist,” Rendell told POLITICO.

“Her life is public service, that’s all she cares about, and I dont think she’s ready to retire,” he added.

Rendell was quoted in Monday’s New York Post as saying, “It’s going to be Hillary Clinton in 2016.”

Speaking of the much-discussed chances of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo seeking the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, Rendell told the Post: “I think Andrew should look elsewhere. … Andrew and everybody else will be running for vice president … Andrew couldn’t be vice president because he and Hillary are from New York, right?”

But Rendell, one of the Clintons’ loudest political supporters, told POLITICO he has heard no indication from the secretary of state or former President Bill Clinton that she has any intention of making another run for president.

“She is of a mind not to do it now,” Rendell said. “But I tell people I think it’s because she’s tired. There’s probably no tougher job physically than secretary of state, because you’re traveling constantly. At this point it’s very difficult for her to focus on anything other than doing her job.”

She should run in 2012. I know she won’t, but it would be fun to watch.

I think she could beat him.

But Hillary has said that she has no plans to ever run for president again.

Bill Clinton said that Hillary wants to be a grandmother more than she ever wanted to be president.

Considering the tabloid gossip about Chelsea’s marriage, Hillary may not become a grandma anytime soon.

PIAPS will run against zero. Unless, the 25th is invoked and as VP she’ll run against Perry, Buchmann or Palin.

“Her life is public service, that’s all she cares about”

Riiiiight! Yeah sure. Tha’s all she cares about, serving the public. All these stinking life long parasite politicians only care about “service” and not about power and control. How I despise those liberal ba$terds.

“Her life is public service, that’s all she cares about."

If you believe that then I have a bridge for sale real cheap.
I'll even throw in an autographed photo of Monica.

If we learned one thing from the two grifters, the only thing they care about. is themselves and NOTHING else.. NOTHING

Wouldn't it, though?

If ‘bama’s numbers are still bummers by the first of the year, the Dems may force him to step aside [shades of LBJ], discretely, of course. They will feign illness or family concerns or some such excuse.

That would open the way for Clinton or some other to become the nominee.

Dems lost the House and almost certainly will lose the Senate in 2012. With ‘bama’s bummer numbers, they don't want to lose the WH, too. His 39% approval [Gallup yesterday] number is not encouraging.

The GOP has a whole host of candiates for 2012, and frsh new strong conservatives ones waiting for 2016 if need be.

The Dems have nobody new that approaches a national stature..Anthony Weiner is perhaps the best known Dem in the country after Obama..

“Her life is public service, that’s all she cares about...”

And that’s exactly the problem with our career politicians. These “politiholics” are one dimensional people who will say or do anything to stay in office. What we need instead are transient politicians who may serve for a period of time but have a life and interests outside of politics. They care about other things besides a “life in public service”.

According to rasmussenreports, Obama still enjoys high approval from liberal dems and about 2/3 from self-styled conservative dems. I don’t see Clinton getting any traction in that case. Not to mention giving Obama the opportunity to call her a Judas.
