I’ve given the notion a little more thought and decided that she likely had future political plans at the time she went with Fox, so she likely has an open-end contract. I seem to recall reading that her contract and paycheck were superior to the other Fox news contributors, like Newt, and that she could break from Fox with a month’s notice. Of course, once she declares, Fox has to comply with the FEC rules for candidates. Your additional thoughts?

I dont remember reading anything in the media about the contract. I had thought that maybe she had agreed to a deal thru Sept (or whatever month) 2011 and that FOX somehow had a way to make her want to remain. But it makes more sense what you say that SP has an open contract and that she knew all along what she would probably end up doing. So the delay? I think to give her more free time, her family free time, to see that political battlefield a little more clearly before entering, be frugal too. She has the strongest grassroots support but she may not have the most money early on, so why start spending so early? Ultimately for her she can announce later given her other inherent advantages so why not do so. The freedom she has now, if she wins it all, she won’t have again for a long time.
