Why Sarah Palin Needs To Run For President In 2012
Riehl World View ^ | Saturday, August 13, 2011 | Riehl World View

Posted on 08/13/2011 8:13:47 AM PDT by onyx

While always open to the idea of one day supporting Sarah Palin for President, since 2008, I've gone back and forth on whether or not I thought it was smart for her to run next year. Re-visiting my thoughts yesterday, what with Palin's appearance in Iowa, not only am I convinced she should run, she needs to run and, regardless of one's preferred candidate, all Conservatives should encourage her to run and welcome her into the race, assuming she does.

Put aside the purely Republican primary politics of it for a moment. Also, I'm not endorsing her, or anyone at this point. But what happened in Iowa yesterday was electric, not just for any Palin faithful, but for many Conservatives and especially the media. For better, or worse, Sarah Palin has star power - whatever that is. But she does have it; that's for sure.

TRENDING: Palin swarmed at Iowa State Fair

Palin has two critical qualities, unique in that they combine in her. Beholden to no one, without fear, or restraint,  Palin articulates today's conservatism in a prudent, positive and cogent manner. More than that, the media, while much of it both loves and hates her, conveys her message to an audience far more broadly than they do for any other contemporary politician. I suspect, no matter who ultimately secures the 2012 Republican nomination, that will always be the case.

We are at a pivotal time in our American history. The future of this great nation is at stake as two competing ideologies prepare to go head-to-head in electoral competition come November 2012. It is absolutely critical for a genuine conservative voice to be heard and heard as widely across America as is possible. Whether you support, or ultimately vote for Sarah Palin, or not, I would encourage my fellow conservatives to think in these terms.

With no intention of demeaning a potential Palin candidacy, nor suggesting that the only purpose she could serve is as a conservative spokesperson, of sorts, - I do believe she would be a viable candidate - that she can play such a critical roll at such a crucial time in American politics is a fact not to be ignored by any conservative.

If you believe in conservatism and that it can win national elections in America, as I do, Sarah Palin's abilities to both speak out fearlessly and plainly for conservatism, while generating increased media interest in, not just herself, but the other candidates and the primary as a whole, would be of significant benefit for all on the Right. As we prepare to campaign and politically fight for the future of America in November of 2012, as things stand today, because of that, we should all encourage her to run and welcome her into the race if she does ... for that reason alone, if no other right now.

“I’ve never seen this.”

Well, the fact remains, many will never vote for a woman. Especially for president.

“It’s not hatred. He is the worst President this country has ever had.”

Yes it is. Many people hate him for a variety of reasons.

“Don’t fool yourself that he can’t win.”

I don’t. Considering that his lackeys can commit all the voter fraud imaginable, and he can insure they are pardoned if he wins, there’s a distinct possibility it will come to that. Just like he has done in the birth certificate cases, when he spent millions to NOT show that he has one, and then having judgements to force the suit bringers to pay his attorney costs. Going all in for the prize or bust works a lot better when you have the power.

Palin started her national leadership of the conservative movement before she left the Alaskan Governor’s seat.

No one can lead national politics from a full time Governor’s office in Hawaii or Alaska, especially a conservative who is identified as such and who the media, the Democrat party, and the Republican party all set out to destroy her future before her term ends and before she can come down here to fight face to face.

Does FR Like Sarah? I Know they do not like Mitt and I agree with this.

I can best show you. Here she's pictured with the owner of FR, Jim Robinson.

To: GoCards; Syncro; Sheila Robinson; All

This was at the Tea Party Express rally in Reno, NV last week (Go Sharron Angle!). The lady in the cowboy hat with the sweet smile is my wife Sheila. And that’s Syncro’s left eyeball in the upper left as he focuses his video camera.

Sarah was introduced to me by Sal Russo (leader of the Tea Party Express) who introduced me as Jim Robinson from freerepublic.com. She said thank you for all you guys have done, then leaned forward and gave me a little cheek to cheek hug. I took it as she loves the FReepers and pass it on to all of you!!

Woo hoo!! FR is Palin Country!!

‘It would be a disaster if she ran. She ended her career when she resigned as Gov.’

1) Did Hilary Clinton END her career when she resigned her Senate seat to become SEc of State??

2) If one leaves the public sector to work in the private sector are they a Quitter or just making a career choice??

Just Curious...

And the fact remains that many conservatives will not vote for a woman for moral reasons.

Devout Christians are who Palin will do best with. The core of the Evangelical community was calling for McCain to choose her for veep.

''"CBS News
Richard Land: First of all, I agree with that assessment. I think that the vice presidential choice that John McCain makes is probably the most important choice he's going to make in this entire campaign. Because he has no room for error, no margin for doubt. If he picks a pro-choice running mate, it will confirm the unease and the mistrust that some evangelicals--and don't forget this, social conservative Catholics--feel about McCain.

If he picks a pro-life running mate, it will help to ease their concerns and confirm to them that, while he may not have been their first choice, he may not have been their second choice, that it's better to vote for a third class fireman than it is to allow a first class arsonist to become president.

CBSNews.com: So, Tom Ridge, who's been discussed. You think …

Richard Land: That would be a catastrophe.

CBSNews.com: As well as Joe Lieberman?

Richard Land: Yes. And I like Joe Lieberman. Joe Lieberman wrote the forward to my book. And I would love to have Joe Lieberman as Secretary of Defense or Secretary of State. But not as Vice President, not as Attorney General and not as a Supreme Court Justice.

CBSNews.com: Who's on the list of people mentioned for VP that you think would most excite Southern Baptists and other members of the conservative faith community?

Richard Land: Probably Governor Palin of Alaska, because she's a person of strong faith. She just had her fifth child, a Downs Syndrome child. And there's a wonderful quote that she gave about her baby, and the fact that she would never, ever consider having an abortion just because her child had Downs Syndrome. She's strongly pro-life.

She's a virtual lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. She would ring so many bells. And I just think it would help with independents because she's a woman. She's a reform Governor. I think that, from what I hear, that would be the choice that would probably ring the most bells, along with Mike Huckabee, of course, who's a Southern Baptist. "''

I’ve given the notion a little more thought and decided that she likely had future political plans at the time she went with Fox, so she likely has an open-end contract. I seem to recall reading that her contract and paycheck were superior to the other Fox news contributors, like Newt, and that she could break from Fox with a month’s notice. Of course, once she declares, Fox has to comply with the FEC rules for candidates. Your additional thoughts?

“Devout Christians are who Palin will do best with.”

Agreed, but that in no way indicates that all devout Christians will vote for her. I think a lot of people underestimate the number of people who will not vote for a woman. If you look at past FR threads, there have been many statements relating to that fact. And there is nothing wrong with voting according to one’s morals. In any event the point is moot. We’ll see when we see. She’s not even officially running as of yet.

I don't disagree that the pro-big govt forces are all against her, but when she resigned she ended her career as an elected official. She will never win a national election because of it.

"Excluding as inadequate someone just because they are not named Sarah is childish in my view..."

because they are not named Sarah???!!!!!???

You asked for it, Grunty. C'mon.

Based upon their repeatedly proven records of actual accomplishment, who besides Palin can you trust to shrink the size of government, shrink government spending, and prosecute and jail the felons who preceded them?

To truly fully restore America, we need all three. Name the other one or two besides Palin who have done this. Okay, just name one. In fact, I don't want to encourage anyone to lie, so don't name any.

That's why we want Palin. To restore America, our system, and most of all, our faith in the system." There is no second choice with a proven track record of being able to do that.

Accepting a position within the admn is not the same as just resigning.

2) If one leaves the public sector to work in the private sector are they a Quitter or just making a career choice??

If they ran and were elected to an office for a specific term and then quit they are not reliable.

I dont remember reading anything in the media about the contract. I had thought that maybe she had agreed to a deal thru Sept (or whatever month) 2011 and that FOX somehow had a way to make her want to remain. But it makes more sense what you say that SP has an open contract and that she knew all along what she would probably end up doing. So the delay? I think to give her more free time, her family free time, to see that political battlefield a little more clearly before entering, be frugal too. She has the strongest grassroots support but she may not have the most money early on, so why start spending so early? Ultimately for her she can announce later given her other inherent advantages so why not do so. The freedom she has now, if she wins it all, she won’t have again for a long time.

My first thought was "No--you can't have him--not just yet!" (Gov Walker). But then I remembered...our state would be in the capable hands of Rebecca Kleefisch.

So now I'm in!

Palin resigned to run for President, it was obvious to some of us then and that will be the answer to the question when she is officially running. So she resigned to seek a higher office. The Libturds will rue the day when the resignation decision was even easier with all the frivolous lawsuits. If it hadnt been for the lawsuits, she may have resigned at a different time, maybe early 2011, but there simply isnt a way to run from President as Alaska governor.

Next question.

You can make a silly, imaginative claim, but the national polling shows different, Governor Palin is in a very strong position to take the Republican primary.
