TORONTO - Another honour killing in our midst and the silence is deafening.
Shaher Bano Shahdady was just 21, a young mother who wanted to live her Canadian life as a free Canadian woman. And for that, she was strangled to death in front of her toddler.
From the Baloch region of Pakistan, she came to Toronto as a little girl. At 14, her father, Mullah Abdul Ghafoor, sent her back to Pakistan to study at a religious fundamentalist madrassa and a few years later she was forced into an arranged marriage with her first cousin.
But her precious son was her ticket back home.

But she had to sponsor her husband here and his arrival in May forced her back into the cage she had struggled so long to escape. He wanted her to wear a burka, to stay away from Facebook, to put aside any plans she had of resuming a secular education.
“She rebelled,” explains Tarek Fatah, founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress. “With the help of social services, she got an apartment for herself and her son. She was leaving her husband and asking for a divorce. How dare she? It would dishonour everyone.”
She and her son moved out July 1. After just three weeks of freedom, she was dead.

So, by this line of reason my daughters should be afraid of me, their father? By this line of reason Susan Smith, Andrea Yates, Susan Eubanks, Coro Socorro, and many more, mothers who killed their children is somehow part of women’s nature? Apparently so, because their children are just as dead.

You can’t compare matricide in Chicago with widespread ‘imaginary’ honor killings in Cairo? It’s legal to kill her in Egypt. Here if I kill the lying, cheating, stealing and degenerate ex-wife of mine, I never see my kids ever again. I never smell freedom again. She gets a get out of jail free card for shooting, stabbing and deliberately hurting me after I found out what crimes she was involved in! Total BS!
My X has been spared by me and two other husbands. She is single now. If she ever marries a Muslim, she's a goner!

how many Western men have stabbed their teen age daughters for not wearing a burqa ( St louis). The mother heled hold her down
how many Western fathers shot and killed their teenage daughters for becoming too americanized( Dallas)
yet another teen killed by her father for refusing to wear the hijab( canada)
those are only a few examples here in North america and it was NOT our culture that encouraged or allowed it. There is no way to know how many honor killings happen in muslim countries

One of the definitions of 'endemic' is 'characteristic of'. And while the urge might be in the Y-chromosome, the act is certainly not characteristic of the Western Culture.
The act is punished by law and custom in the West, and permitted by Islam, both by Islamic law and Arab custom.
Western warriors might, but this isn't a universal notion among warrior classes in all cultures.
When a muslim father murders his daughter because she refuses an arranged marriage, that's Islam at work.
When a muslim brother murders his sister because she's in love with a non-muslim, that's Islam at work.
When a muslim family murders their girl because she won't wear a burkah, that's Islam at work. Because these things don't happen in our culture.
When a man murders a woman for leaving him, that's probably testosterone at work. Because it happens in our culture too. A LOT.
Violence against women is indeed endemic. I stand by that word. Indeed, it wasn’t so long ago that beating and raping one’s wife became illegal right here in America. And though murdering them is illegal, I remember as recently as 1990 reading that the average prison sentence for a woman convicted of murdering even an abusive husband was 20 years, whereas a man convicted of murdering his wife served on average 7 years.
Add the millions of abortions to that and I think we'd have to agree that yes, considering their children to be their property, to be disposed of at will, does indeed lurk within women's nature.

It's a murderous cult code. Period.
Warrior must have a code of honor. The members of this murderous cult have no internalized honor based on their own human value. They only have intense fear they will be punished by other cult members if they do not behave in murderous way.
This is not honor, this is cowardice.
One who is coward can not be warrior. He only can be marauder and murderer.
I am sick and tired of "7th generation Canadians" supporting this savagery under the guise of all beliefs being equal in Canada.
Not showing the moral muscle and appeasing the murderers is no lesser cowardice than murdering own daughter in fear of being punished by the murderous cult.

No one is saying there aren’t crazed people in every country.
The point here with this story is how sharia/ islam fosters and encourages honor killing of women.
Our culture does not and in fact we punish those who committ these crimes.I haven’t read of too many teens being killed by non muslims for being too Americanized here.
To try to tie a lunatic murderer or murderers here with the muslims who kills in the name of honor is ludicris.
