FORT HOOD - Lieutenant General Donald Campbell Jr., the Commander of Fort Hood said Wednesday accused gunman Major Nidal Hasan still has his rank and is still drawing a paycheck from the military while he awaits court martial set for March 5, 2012.
Hasan's confinement and medical expenses are also being paid by the military, and he is moved on post once or twice a week for treatment and occasionally to see his legal defense team.

needs to fall down some stairs.
Well isn’t that special?
I’m sure Obama needs him alive and well paid. Fellow Muslims take care of each other
The question isn't why he has rank and pay, but WHY THE HELL DID WE LET A LOONIE MUSLIM INTO OUR ARMED FORCES!? is the real question that needs asking.
I’d love to see him suffer Jeffrey Dahmer’s fate.....
amazing.
even our military has fallen into social and political correctness,
and they haven’t the guts and brains to remove themselves
from harm’s path.
Victims and their families need to sue him for every penny our idiotic government is giving him.
Let’s remember, until he’s convicted (and, one assumes, dismissed from the service), he’s still entitled to all pay and benefits. That’s just how it works. Innocent until proven guilty pursuant to proper authority and all that.

Until convicted, he will still hold the rank and continue receiving pay and benefits. That’s how it works, like it or not. Once that conviction comes down, though... off with the ******’s head, as far as I’m concerned.
That may very well be true on other fronts, but this is a due process matter. He hasn't been convicted yet.
OK, so what's wrong with this idea: all pay stops when the accused is indicted. If he is later found innocent, he gets all back pay plus interest.
If I had been one of the LEOs on site that day, he would have been taken to the coroner, not a hospital.

The problem is that constitutionally, it presumes guilt before an adjudication. Don’t get me wrong: in cases like this where there are dozens of witnesses to the offenses, the human side of me says, “just string him up”; however, as we hear ad nauseum: “We are a nation of laws, not of men.” Doing the right thing in the right way at the right time for the right reason is the foundation and responsibility of such a nation.
As you were.

The U.S. military sounds as soft in the head as Norway.
If any one of the victims had been armed at the time Hasan would have been “taken out” without a trial.
He should be. He has not yet been found guilty of anything. Aggravating, I know. After his trial is over, the DOD needs to determine how this assclown was promoted to MAJ through political correctness. Them his med school record needs to be reviewed. I doubt he got his MD through good grades.
