Thank you. He doesn’t believe that TS is going to HTF, so he’s a bit of a hard sell.

Just the fact that a Bing search on “standard loadout” returns role-playing sites in some instances will reinforce his opinion about the situation.

We are semi-isolated in a large brick house with too many windows in the middle of many acres of soybean and corn fields and only one neighbor, so it’s possible that we would be out of the fray.

I have control of the grocery shopping and have covered us well there, but the dearth of ammo alarms me.

Will keep working on him, but don’t want to make his life too miserable. Everybody hates a nag.

Absolutely incorrect!

You are isolated from help, and sitting in the middle of a food source.

You WILL be a target in no uncertain terms!

but the dearth of ammo alarms me.

Then purchase it yourself in smaller quantities. Buy 2 or 3 20 round boxes a couple times a month instead of walking in with a 500 round tin. It'll cost you more but the goal will be accomplished.

If you've got a .22 LR, and you SHOULD have one, a brick of 500 costs around 20 bucks or so and takes up no room at all.

Improvise, adapt, overcome. LOL.

Does he believe ammo will become more or less expensive? Because you can make the case that the cash in his pocket is devalueing at a frightening rate. The $20 price tag on a box of .45 ACP looks pricy ....until there's no ammo sitting there, and not much hope of any more coming quickly.

Have him think of it this way;

He's not buying ammo to have on hand to kill Zombies and bad guys if the SHTF.
He's converting soon-to-be worthless dollars into tangible assets that will likely be usable as currency should an economic meltdown occur.
.22 LR ammo will be the new quarter or even dollar.

Look at it this way...all it would take would be a prolonged Teamsters strike (which is coming) or for Welfare checks to stop flowing and the cities will erupt. That eruption will spread outward. The ammo may be necessary for it's primary purpose. Or it could be used as barter with sane folks you may know who have laid in supplies. There are many angles and no downside to stocking up. You can always sell it again for cash if a Constitutionally literate government happens to spring up and the world is once again filled with rainbows and songbirds.
