The Fourth of July may be just a holiday for fireworks to some people. But it was a momentous day for the history of this country and the history of the world.
Not only did July 4, 1776, mark American independence from England, it marked a radically different kind of government from the governments that prevailed around the world at the time — and for thousands of years before.
The American Revolution was not simply a rebellion against the King of England, it was a rebellion against being ruled by kings in general. That is why the opening salvo of the Revolution was called "the shot heard round the world."
Autocratic rulers and their subjects heard that shot — and things that had not been questioned for millennia were now open to challenge. As the generations went by, more and more autocratic governments around the world proved unable to meet that challenge.
Some clever people today ask whether the U.S. has really been "exceptional." You couldn't be more exceptional in the 18th century than to create your fundamental document by opening with the momentous words, "We the people."
Those words were a slap in the face to those who thought themselves entitled to rule, and who regarded the people as human livestock, destined to be shepherded by their betters. To this day, elites who think that way — including many among the intelligentsia as well as political messiahs — find the Constitution a pain because it stands in the way of their imposing their will and presumptions on the rest of us.

No. Courts have effectively gutted the 4th and 5th amendments, and anyone who tries to bring up the tenth is labeled a kook and marginalized.

The short answer is.... No. The federal government has had a history of trampling upon it whenever it suited them. To restore its relevance blood would have to be shed I think. At least thats what history has taught us.
I’ll bet that essay is barely over 500 words, but Thomas Sowell said more about the reasons for America’s founding, and the reasons for defending our founding principles, than nearly anything else I’ve read.
He also takes a huge sword of truth to the sheep’s clothing of liberalism. Just brilliant....as always.
This is our battle, our constitution MEANS something. The libs are out to destroy it. It’s a war on our country, and we’re battling it daily. We will win. My rights don’t trump the feds. We will win this battle! Us patriots outnumber the takers. We might have a setback or two here and there, but, we will prevail. I have no doubt freedom will win!
Go to the National Archives in Wash DC. All day, every day, you will find a long line of Americans wanting to see with their own eyes the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. They don’t want to see a copy you can find at any tourist shop around the city. They want to see the real deal.

It does to us but it don’t mean shit to hose in power. Unless it suits their purpose. If we,as a whole, acted in a manner to make those in power respect us,much less fear us, they would not be doing half the crap they are doing and getting away with it.

Tell me about it. Isn’t it interesting we are seeing so many articles about kids not knowing anything about the USC? We have people like nancy pelosi saying things like “are you kidding?” when asked if the congress can just whatever it wants.
To today’s educators, kids and their liberal overlords, the entirety of the USC is the Commerce Clause, the Supramcy Clause and the preamble part that says “promote the general welfare.” The rest, including and especially the BOR, is just toilet paper to them.
