Animated Penguin Could Fall Victim to U.S. Sanctions
The popular South Korean animated series "Pororo the Little Penguin" could fall victim to new U.S. sanctions against North Korea, Radio Free Asia reported Wednesday. The U.S. government announced a new set of sanctions against the North that bans not only imports of finished goods produced there but also products made using its technology.
Eighteen of the 104 episodes of the "Pororo" series, which is hugely popular among children in South Korea, were made by North Korea-based subcontractor Samcholli General Corp. between 2002 and 2005.
"U.S. imports of 'Pororo' episodes that were made after 2005 without North Korean help should not face any problems in terms of sanctions," a Unification Ministry official said. "And episodes that were made before 2005 could be cleared for export to the U.S. following inspections."

" Hello! Well, it's just after eight o'clock, and time for the penguin on top of your television set to explode."
“ooh!, what’s that on the telee?”
“If it lays an egg...”
If it laid an egg . . .
“It looks fairly butch.”
“Yes, we’ll have to keep an eye on that.”
Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in
Antarctica ?
Where do they go?
Well, wonder no more!!!
It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which
lives an extremely ordered and complex life.
The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as
well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring
throughout its life. If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface,
other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig
holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole
is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.
The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and
sing:
“Freeze a jolly good fellow”
“Freeze a jolly good fellow.”
Then they kick him in the ice hole.
