It's a bit early in the day however "expected" is close enough.

...I know I've been asking this question for months now, but can anyone tell me how this weekly number always stays between 415 and 430.....????, it's new jobless claims, the number has got to vary more or less from 15,000 from week to week. Next week's number will once again be around 428,000.

The economists (government cheerleaders) guessing wrong once again is a diversion from the real news that the economy is continuing to disintegrate.

Reuters book of style: ‘terrorist’ is never to be used in print. ‘Unexpected’ is to be used in every story about unemployment under an Obama administration.

429,000, (higher than expected)
Expected 415,000

The prior week’s figure was revised UP to 420,000. (from 414,000)

They will now blame the unemployed. There is nobody else left to blame but the policies of the administration toward business and taxes.

Look for hit pieces on unemployed sloths just around the corner.

Saying that it's unexpected is simply cover meaning that it shouldn't be happening but is anyway and there's supposedly no reason available to explain it.

Yeah...right.

I think the illegal president has been blaming businesses for not hiring.

I remember when Bush was in office and unemployment was under 5%, all the liberal media would do was complain that although we were creating millions of new jobs, they were low quality jobs that they derisively called "Mcjobs".

There have been a few times when it got down into the 300,000s, but those are few, so we remember the 400,000s.

I don’t think there’s anything mystical or magical or conspiratorial about the narrow range. Sure, they are often slightly revised later, and they are not going to capture a perfect snapshot of what’s actually happening. But they do reflect the reality of our economy. We are stuck with an economy that is producing pretty consistent numbers...not the worst of worlds but a pretty lousy one in terms of unemployment.

I think the bottom line to take away is that when people file for unemployment, eventually they will either find something suitable and move on with work, or they will drop out of the labor force after trying and trying and becoming discouraged.

At that point we have the reason why long term unemployed numbers keep going up and up and up and up. The sad news is that the trend is for fewer and fewer people to be employed in this country.

That is kept as a separate statistic from the unemployment rate, giving Obama a break from the horrors of the raw, unvarnished truth.

Well to be fair, all businesses are not exactly innocent, esp the ones who outsource jobs as well as those who hire scabs from other countries to do the work here WE could do.

But I do agree that many of the libbies will point the finger at businesses without any mention of excessive taxation or the upcoming uncertainty of Obamacare and what it means for increased business costs.

The four-week moving average of new jobless claims, considered a better gauge of labor market trends, was unchanged at 426,250.

Thsi is the second week in a row (at least) where the four-week moving average has been unchanged. And it is the third week in a row (at least) where the weekly figures have gone up.

The books are heavily cooked.
