For some reason, I'm picturing the scene in Revenge of the Sith when Mace Windu and 3 other Jedi finally confront Emperor Palpatine and announce that they are placing him under arrest and taking away his political power.

Palatine lets loose with a guttural, animal-like scream, whips out his hidden light sabre and begins killing the Jedi.

Some people don't go quietly.

This congress is as wimpy as their leader, but I think that we should begin a letter and phone call campaign pointing out that this offense against the Constitution is impeachable.

Notice we have not heard WORD ONE from Code Pink, ANSWER, NION, or any of the usual suspects over this. Guess as soon as Soros cut off the funding for these maggots, they just blew away like dry leaves.....

But of course that would require Republicans with GUTS and belief in their Constitutional responsibilities. And the one or two who make the grade ain’t gonna be enough.

It’s hard to impeach someone you play golf with, I’d imagine. And this is even though there hasn’t been greater impeachment-bait sitting (occasionally) in the Oval Office, in recent memory.

Congress alone has the power to declare war. But the President also has the authority as Commander-in-Chief to order US troops into action in the event that American assets are threatened by an aggressor power.

The War Powers Act was and is a terrible piece of politicized legislation that seeks to usurp Constitutionally-granted Executive power, as opposed to forcing Congress to act as they should, or would, if they had any courage.

In the present instance, Congress could easily vote to defund the Libyan operation and chide the President for having so acted against a country that did not directly threaten the United States. What prevents them from doing so is the same lack of courage and accountability its members routinely demonstrate in domestic financial matters.
