Top gay rights leader: kids of religious families are ‘target demographic’ of anti-‘gay bullying’ ad

June 10, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - After the broadcast of a homosexualist advertisement during the family-friendly Fox show American Idol prompted outrage, the founder of the ad campaign has confirmed that such advertisements are intended to promote the message of the gay rights lobby to young children in households that normally wouldn’t support it. One conservative leader has now demanded that Google, Fox, and Disney-Pixar sever their ties with the campaign.
Peggy Nance of Concerned Women for America expressed outrage that the Fox network aired an anti-gay bullying advertisement, part of the “It Gets Better” campaign, during the extremely popular competition show.
Doubling as an advertisement for Google Chrome, the ad features several Hollywood personalities, and even a character from the popular Disney-Pixar movie series Toy Story, who speak directly to and encourage an audience of young people identifying as homosexual, telling them that “It gets better.”
On her blog, Nance called Fox’s choice of ad placement a betrayal of trust of conservative households everywhere.
“Apparently, American Idol with the help of Woody from Disneys Toy Story, thinks that my 4th grader needs to be fully aware of the plight of teens who view themselves as ‘gay.’ I am sorry, but he doesnt even know about heterosexual sex yet. Can you give me some room here?” wrote Nance. “I am ticked because I feel tricked. Fox blew it last night.
“The point is parents felt secure in allowing our entire families watch this show. They lured us into a false sense of security and broke trust with us last night.”
Dan Savage, a homosexual activist and founder of the It Gets Better project, shot back at Nance, saying that promoting their message to those with religious upbringing was precisely the point.
“Nance’s son was always our target demo,” wrote Savage. “Again, we don’t know if he’s gay. But he might be and, if he is, he needs to hear from us.”
The “primary goal” of the campaign, he explained, is “to reach LGBT kids who are being bullied by their peers and their families.”
“Now I dont know if Nances son is gay, bi, or trans, but if he is, he needs to know more than most that it can get better for him too, that theres hope for his future, and that the adult world isnt entirely populated by hateful s***s like his mother,” he wrote, adding “here’s hoping” that “Nance’s son is gay.”
Nance later wrote to supporters that Savage’s response revealed “a serious threat to every family.”
“This campaign isn’t really about stopping gay bullying in school,” wrote Nance, who also demanded that Google, Fox and Disney sever ties with Savage’s campaign. “This is about using the power of prime time television and Google to infiltrate your home and your family and get their message to our sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters.”

What he doesn’t understand is that kids of religious families are those most likely to not be influenced by these kinds of ads. Generally, they’re more firmly grounded in their beliefs, and unlikely to be drawn to things they know are wrong.
Gay groups targeting these kids are wasting a lot of money! (But don’t tell them; let that be our little secret.)
Indeed - cut off the media. Don’t let Satan’s messengers into your home.
Really, we don’t miss it, folks.
There’s plenty to do besides sit and be entertained.
It’s a specific agenda promoting modus operandi that they call “jamming”. Making it appear that they are more prominent and ubiquitous than in reality.
Do you swim through sewers to get a drink of clean water?
I may have watched an episode about 9 years ago. It was
not bad at all; I remember thinking the programming was
suitable for really all ages. There were 2 teenage girl
singers, and 2 adult men dancers in that show. From what
I see on this thread, if this was American Idol. it has
gone way downhill.
wow, simply wow. “Nobody’s told us” Any idea how old these
girls were? It would make superlative dialogue... for
some medium.
Not too long ago I read online a good discussion about
how TV degrades us, not by formal indoctrination but by
simply showing us what they want us to think the world looks
like. It was much better put than what I have been able
to say.
Whenever someone says that TV/media doesn’t try to influence behavior,
I ask them “why do people advertise, then?”
Just proves it’s a choice, no genetic predisposition about it.
love that!
I wish your sentiments were true, however...
“Normal” people have been beaten into submission through the various programs spun from political correctness.
Diversity, inclusion, tolerance, etc.
Employers and the gov’t have been doing their part quite well. So well in fact, that folks can be fired for not agreeing with the “company” position, either at work or home.
There exists a climate of fear, fear of losing one’s livelihood because of a 2 percenter.
Get this. If you are a promoter of Gay Sex, you can go into any public school in MA and speak to children of any age and NOT have to undergo a CORI (Criminal Background) Check. But if you are a member of Kiwanis and want to read Good Night Moon to Kindergartners as part of Reading Is Fundamental, you do. Because Kiwanis participates in RIF. We have been labeled as a target for pederasts.
Sickening isn’t it? I hope you do some posting at the Boston Globe. The perverts need to hear a voice of dissent now and again. I have posted several times on the San Fran chron site but have been banned twice for opposing homos and nambla.
8 or 9, I believe.
We’ve been letting our kids watch MacGyver episodes on Netflix which they really like. While I think MacGyver was messed up with his position on guns, I don’t have to worry about our kids taking anybody else’s position on guns. They’ve shot the real thing and want more.
A guy who can make a bomb out of bubble gum and dental floss is always entertaining.
I’ve been hooked on Quantum Leap and Monk. And my son finds MST3k to be amusing. The younger one likes Rocky and Bullwinkle, which is fine by me.
Yesterday the kids had a MacGyver marathon. Now I'm thinking... what else is out there that I've forgotten about.
Fox TV is the devil.
QL and Monk have some episodes/subject matter that I don’t think my 9 year old is quite ready for, but my 13 year old is ok. MST3k is hit or miss; some of the episodes just stink, but others...tears from laughing. Sliders is another sci-fi kind of show I think my son would like. I liked X-Files, but not really kid-friendly. We have the Muppet Show on DVD, a few seasons anyway — one of my little one’s favorites (I’m partial to Pigs in Space).
