Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for a majority made up of Republican-appointed justices, said the Arizona’s employer sanctions law “falls well within the confines of the authority Congress chose to leave to the states.”
Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, all Democratic appointees, dissented. The fourth Democratic appointee, Justice Elena Kagan, did not participate in the case because she worked on it while serving as President Barack Obama’s solicitor general
Damn. And there I thought that the States had delegated enumerated powers to the Congress in the first place!
Silly me.
falls well within the confines of the authority Congress chose to leave to the states.
Out and Out LIE, The States Created Congress and The States gave Congress Specific Enumerated powers, This is not one of those Enumerated Powers the States granted Congress So we have no Say in the Matter. The Problem is NOBODY ACTUALLY READS THE CONSTITUTION ANYMORE.
Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, all Communist Party apparachniks, dissented.
There. Fixed it for ya!!!!!
Note the phrase “Congress chose to leave to the states”. Apparently the court ruled on the interpretation of current law, not on the question of whether the federal government may assert sole authority over immigration matters.
