Campaign Crawlers The Cain Train Picks Up Steam
By Robert Stacy McCain on 5.20.11 @ 6:08AM
Four years ago at the studios of WSB Radio in Atlanta, I interviewed talk-radio host Herman Cain, who had only recently recovered from cancer. He smiled as he vowed, "Death's going to have to catch me, and it's going to have to run fast."
Cain is smiling more than ever now, and running strong with a Republican presidential campaign that has surged to national prominence since the May 5 debate in Greenville, S.C. In a Fox News focus group of South Carolina GOP voters following that debate, pollster Frank Luntz asked for a show of hands: "How many of you think Herman Cain won the debate?" More than half the participants raised their hands. Luntz was flabbergasted, calling the result "unprecedented." Luntz then went around the room, asking what it was that made the retired restaurant executive so appealing.
"He's likeable," one man said, summarizing a key factor in Cain's campaign that seems to elude pundits. For the past two weeks, the political intelligentsia has struggled to understand how the former CEO of Godfather's Pizza, who has never held elective office, could have suddenly emerged as a contender in a crowded Republican 2012 primary field. It's never been a mystery to Cain's communication director Ellen Carmichael.

They tried the same thing with Cheney.
Didn't work then. Doubt it would work with Cain.
He can debate Obama bluntly without being called a racist. Independents like him.
Right now the DNC think they have the 2012 election locked in with a commercial of Newt going against Ryan (Therefore they will slime and say SEE EVEN a republican (NEWT) is against taking away gramma’s health care. Then they show their campaign ad that shows the GOP pushing gramma in a wheelchair off a cliff.
SO FUNG FUBO
GO CAIN GO!!!
You are absolutely right. Nothing enrages the white racists of the American left like a black man who won’t stay on the plantation and let them do the talking,
Unlike TheOneTraitor. Cain will have to release his medical records to get an all clear. They may try to create things (SEE DANRATHERGATE and OBAMA’S BC’s) but it won’t work.
Well then, Herman Cain should release all of his medical records to prove he is healthy, and challenge Premier Hussein to do the same thing. That won’t happen, but it will make the point.
Having cancer in remission is not the obstacle it once was. Lots of viable hard working people have cancer in remission. or know someone close who does. Trying to play the cancer card against Cain would be a very stupid thing to do and would cost whomever tried it dearly.
It will get UGLY. And in a year like this, it will likely hurt Obama.
Well, even more than his own Israel blunder did.
But Cain, although “loved by Republicans,” is only in it for “entertainment.”
I know it must be so because Dr. K. said it.
/s
Well it’ll then be that much more entertaining to watch him climb in the polls.
I would enthusiastically vote for Cain!
I’m with you. I have always supported Alan Keyes. I have met him in person many times and he delivers speeches without teleprompters or even notes. I haven’t noticed Cain using any notes either. his words seem to come from the heart and the great mind he has. Goooooo Herman. But yes MSM will try to make him go away
America needs a leader, not a reader! ... Herman Cain
Hermanator ping.
The Beltway GOP elites are all in the tank for Mitch Daniels...sadly.
So what? They’ll do that with any candidate the GOP puts forth; Romney included. This is a non-issue.
Krauthammer is in the tank for Romney. Who cares what these beltway people think?
Free at Last, Good God Almighty,FREE AT LAST!! That statement and the one where he said We Need a Leader Not a Reader is what sold Me ! Go Herman Cain!
Cain will be good at retailpolitcs, and that is what counts in Iowa. Thank of all the black stars in the movies whom whites like. He has that quality of likeableness/personal force that makes whites forget color.
Thanks for the ping - pinging forward!

Today was pretty awesome, I hope a lot of folks were able to come out. I spent the day selling t-shirts in the direct sunlight, but what a crowd. Outstanding!
I got my t-shirt!
Yay! A bunch of folks wanted to buy the red ones the volunteers were wearing :-)
