The federal government is suing Starbucks for firing a dwarf.
According to Reuters, the barista, at a store in El Paso, TX, requested a stool or small stepladder to do her job. Starbucks denied the request and fired her that same day. The company said she could have been a danger to employees and customers.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said after three days of training, the store should have made a reasonable accommodation for the woman.
I, for one, will not stand for discrimination against Gnomes.
How exactly? By falling off her stool into their coffee cups?
If the feds can not see the danger of a “little” person climbing on and off a stool with hot coffee they are blind and need their own affirmative action
I think we can all be thankful that the Fellowship didn’t fire Gimli. That’s all I’m saying.
anyone else watching game of thrones?
the guy in that is a bad axxc.
good show.
If Starbucks hired this person then they should have made it possible for the employee to do a job. I don’t think a stool is completely out of the question or an over the top demand. Me-thinks Starbucks hired a little person to “appear” like they hire people with a disability and then rethought their decision. That being said, little people didn’t ask to be born that way and have to make a living just like everyone else.
Don’t want no short people.....
I think I’m with Starbucks on this one.
If you have to use a stool to handle hot liquids, then that creates a safety hazard.
And to lower all the work places for the dwarf to be able to work is not a “reasonable” accomodation.
They should not have hired her in the first place for that particular job.
Maybe offer a different job within the store? I know everyone would rather hire models and 18-25 year olds but we can’t just kill the rest. Or keep them on welfare.
How about Ogres?
Starbucks—only the venti need apply.
“I think we can all be thankful that the Fellowship didnt fire Gimli.”
True, but he was tossed...
With the accomodation, they figured their profits would be only $24,999,999,980 for the year, not an even $25 billion/s
Roloff bump....
They fired her and they are still short staffed.
a midget?
Did Starbucks...toss...the dwarf?
