I was raised by two rabid California libs.

They bitched constantly about how awful it was being "stuck with G-D kids" and how much we cost.

As soon as I was old enough, I left for an out-of-state university and worked my way through school. Got my commission in the US military and now I'm a Field grade Officer and combat veteran. I never even looked back.

Good grief, I can't even fathom being a "boomerang". Granted, my experience wasn't everyone's, but the thought of going back brings revulsion on many levels.

Before anything, thank you for your service.

I’m heartened knowing vets today are not treated as we were in the 70’s and I hope you know there are millions of Americans who agree with me in supporting you.

God, me either. I was also raised by people who had no business raising children. I left home at 18 and worked my way through school. Had it been necessary to return home after college, I don’t know ...I think I would have run away and joined the military, too! No way in HELL I would have gone back home.
