So if he had the charisma, tact, and charm of Reagan he would be a good choice to run at the national level? If he made it to the state level there might still be a chance he could win on a national level even without the charisma.
Remember the Bush years? Do you really want another president who can't communicate very well with the American people? Remember how frustrating it was when Bush, who wasn't particularly conservative in the first place, actually tried to push some good policies and consistently failed utterly at media and PR war?
This country is in serious trouble and the American public still refuses to cut the social welfare state. We REALLY need someone who can begin explaining that the nanny state is a failure and needs to be significantly scaled back. We need a real leader in the bully pulpit. Daniels may very well do the right things, but we need more than that from a President.
Mitch is very good at communicating on a local and state level. He mixes well with smaller crowds and on a one on one basis. He has an excellent history of going to the grassroots level and to the individual level. I know the “truce” statement on social issues put off a lot of folks but when it comes down to the basics he held his beliefs as a conservative and produced without fanfare, photo ops or a party.
