Obama: No sleep lost over bin Laden killing By Michael O'Brien - 05/08/11 07:15 PM ET

President Obama said he didn't lose any sleep over Osama bin Laden's killing.

The president said he had no hesitation over ordering bin Laden's death, though he admitted to nervousness about sending U.S. special forces troops into Pakistan or the dangerous -- but ultimately successful -- mission.

"As nervous as I was about this whole process, the one thing I didn't lose sleep over was the possibility of taking bin Laden out. Justice was done," Obama said Sunday on "60 Minutes" on CBS. "And I think that anyone who would question that the perpetrator of mass murder on American soil-- didn't deserve what he got needs to have their head examined."

Obama announced a week ago, late on Sunday night, that bin Laden had been killed following a daring raid, details of which emerged over the course of the week. But while ordering the mission was a "sobering" decision, Obama said he never had doubts.

"You know, every time I make a decision -- about launching a missile, every time I make a decision about sending troops into battle -- you know I understand that this will result in people being killed," he said. "And that is a sobering fact. But it is one that comes with the job."

Obama added insight into his decision-making process that led to last Sunday's raid, one he made last Friday morning after administration deliberation over which approach to use, and whether bin Laden was actually hiding in the Pakistan hideout where he had actually been living for at least five years.

Obama described the decision as a "difficult" one for having to put troops in harm's way, but one in which he ultimately felt confident. The president said he never even told members of his family or most senior White House aides of the operation to capture or kill bin Laden until after it had succeeded.

He also downplayed the notion of any divisions in the Situation Room over what approach to use in order to get bin Laden. The president ultimately decided on the on-the-ground raid, a riskier option, but one that provided the opportunity to confirm bin Laden's idling.

"One of the things that we've done here is to build a team that is collegial and where everybody speaks their mind. And there's not a lot of sniping or back biting after the fact," Obama said. "And what I've tried to do is make sure that every time I sit down in the Situation Room, every one of my advisors around there knows I expect them to give me their best assessments."

Well, we know that. He did sleep 16 hours before making the decision, after all.

When you don’t do any of the planning, take any of the risks, and have nothing to personally lose if things go wrong, of course there’s nothing weighing on the guy’s conscience. These presstitutes make me sick!

but he has a problem with how the info was got which in turn allowed for the seals to kill him.

Funny how this biased media will not call him out on this or ow he dragged his feet on this and i bet it was a couple who stepped down said they would go public if he did not go ahead with this thus making obama know he had to do it.

This would explain how the changes of positions occurred just before all of this went down

Narcissistic and faux macho.

“I had no hesitation about taking a human life”... Neither did Stalin. You can't have a moral dilemma when you have no sense of morality.

"The president said he never even told members of his family or most senior White House aides of the operation to capture or kill bin Laden until after it had succeeded".

That is because he himself did not know about it until he was dragged off the golf course and forcefully made to sit down in to watch in the situation room!

He’s been telling us over and over again how he ordered the hit on OBL, which just tells me he really didn’t.

we had changes in positions just before all of this went down not the only explanation I can think of is that maybe one or two said they would go public if bozo the clown did not follow through and get him.

Knowing this would hurt politically he had to give the go ahead, Now saying that this media will not call him out or look into this just like they will not call him out about how the info was got in order to kill him

Obama was President when this operation went down. Therefore, he gets to claim the political credit no matter how timid his decision making may have been. In the end, he either made or allowed to be made, the right decision.

It is instructive, however, to observe the White House minions and their Chosen One and compare and contrast to previous Presidents. Some observations:

Democrat Presidents all go through incredible hang wringing over these decisions. Obama may just be better at it than Clinton or Carter, but that’s not saying much. They are all obsessed with how this will sit with their America hating base. Republicans, on the other hand, don’t seem to go through the what if drills and self doubt. They make a decision, stand by it, and then take all the blame while showering the credit on those who planned and carried out the operation. Too much I, me, mine coming from Obama on this one.

Obama has been unique in completely controlling the message directly from the White House. The political hacks have been the only ones telling us what went on and they have made botched the job. Other administrations have left these operational briefings to the experts at the Pentagon and CIA. The Obama crowd would have done well to have done the same.

Obama and his lackeys have seemed to be far more concerned at how their political positions on interrogation, prosecution of the War on Terror, and their criticism of the Bush Administration will be perceived than on the benefits of this event to the United States. They only seem to care about themselves and have resorted to a steady stream of lies to try to justify their wrongheaded approach to terrorism.
