CNN Poll: Ron Paul strongest vs. Obama
CNN ^

Posted on 05/06/2011 4:52:24 AM PDT by quesney

Who does best against Obama? Paul. The congressman from Texas, who also ran as a libertarian candidate for president in 1988 and who is well liked by many in the tea party movement, trails the president by only seven points (52 to 45 percent) in a hypothetical general election showdown. Huckabee trails by eight points, with Romney down 11 points to Obama.

Well now that I think about it you may be right about other elected positions as well. I’m not in the libertarian party but I meet people all the time who claim to be libertarians and claim to have voted for libertarian candidates. Now I guess I suspect they’re probably really wishy-washy moderates (aka embarassed Democrats).

According to other polls and the averages, this poll is rather isolated and should be considered a fluke. Palin has also only gained 1 point against Obama and is still 18 points down against him.

Pawlenty is the candidate who is actually surging. He has shot up almost 15 points and is now in 3rd place.

Well, I’ll admit as I have done before on FR that I actually voted for jimmah cattah. Of course, I was a young, dumb, and stupid - still in my 20s and on the farm. He is the only (d) that ever got my vote. I vote for any person running against a dim.

Well, a fat lot of good that does when the entire house is made of glass, capiche?

Yeah, the whole thing is made of glass but I live inside it. When I open the windows, there is no glass between me and the rest of the world. So, when I throw stones I'm throwing them out the open window into the air, not hitting any glass at all.

Apparently the party doesn't have much in the way of success to brag about.

There has been a few elected Libertarians, many if not most were elected to local or municipal government positions.

If interested, you can read about it here.

For the record...I'm not opposed to Libertarianism in general as I am a staunch believer in limited government. But I do believe the legalize drug platform is a loser from the start. Just my .02¢.

Ron Paul as a nominee might very well take the biggest electoral beat down in history.

Add pro-abortion

Fraud Paul has one of the weirdest stances on abortion.. he and his tards scream to high heaven he is a pure-life purist bust his votes and stand actually resembles a extreme federalist to the point that 'state's rights' trump individual rights- being all for a state to legalize abortion. Once again, just another fraud giving the government the power over the individual- in his case the government is the State versus fed.

Don't try to convince anybody that you don't go for the personal attacks.

Why, there's this nice little gem from yesterday, for example.

I did not attack your writing skills. I pointed out that they lack talent.

You very condescendingly asked South 40 is English was his second language. That is a personal insult.

You had Post #51 removed.

Because it was laden with personal insults on another FReeper.

And if I were you, I'd quite bragging about my writing skills.

Yours aren't all that.

So, that glass house you're dwelling in is getting a little more fragile.

The problem with the legalized drug platform is that libertarians usually include all drugs. Well, I guess they are being consistent but yes, when it's presented that way it is a loser. But like it or not, I really do think that marijuana will eventually be legal - hell, seniors smoke it now. It may not happen in my lifetime but I don't see the drug warriors being any more successful than they have in the past on that one. And when it comes to Mexico, I think you are going to hear more and more people say - Grow here, grow now! ;-)

I got ya beat....Not only did I vote for that mega-dumb ass Carter, I also voted for Shirely Chisum (black liberal Congresswoman from Texas...but a likeable person)...I was a volunteer in the Memphis campaign headquarters for Al Gore Sr (there was another volunteer in there that wanted to display the flag of North Vietnan)...

I did neighborhood canvasing for the Democrat Party, and I often acted like a lemming repeating all the goofy things the left say: “The only hope for the working man is the Democrat Party.”....”Reagan will get us into a war.”...”Republicans are the party of the rich.”

I was a PERFECT democrat: uninformed and arrogant in my ignorance.

I had a recent request from one of my tenants who asked for permission to smoke weed in his unit even though he signed a rental agreement that states clearly NO SMOKING. I own very nice rentals and do not allow smoking. He agreed to that when he signed. Now he wants the rules changed so he can smoke his 'medicinal marijuana'. I told him the no smoking policy was firm and that was that. He later asked if I would object to his consuming marijuana by other means. I told him I'm not oppose to weed (even though I have never used it) and if he wants to get high to relieve his pain (or whatever) then I would not be opposed even though technically, doing so would violate the part of the agreement pertaining to breaking the law.

So I'm not opposed to marijuana use, heck, I like Rum. But the Libertarians, as you say, want to legalize all drugs. That's just lunacy. This was addressed at last evening's GOP debate and Paul looked like a fool for having his position. Reason 109 to NOT vote for Ron Paul.

The problem is that times have changed and Paul hasn’t - domestically he’s pretty good but open borders are of particular concern.

Don't try to convince anybody that you don't go for the personal attacks.

I don't believe I've ever claimed that. But, to me, a personal attack is something like,"You're an ignorant slut and your mother is a whore and you're an idiot because you said something supportive of a candidate I don't like." Suggesting that someone's writing skills lack talent is not a personal attack. Sorry if you don't see the difference.

Why, there's this nice little gem from yesterday, for example.

What time zone are you in? That little gem is barely an hour old.

I did not attack your writing skills. I pointed out that they lack talent.

That's an attack to you?

You very condescendingly asked South 40 is English was his second language. That is a personal insult.

First of all he didn't answer. For all I know he's Lithuanian. But what I was doing was poking a little fun. You seem to be taking it like some giant insult. It's not. In any language. Is South 40 genetically connected to you in some way? Is thin skin a genetic condition?

You had Post #51 removed.

Not to be picky, but this is not the place for a period nor does it, considering your next sentence, constitute a paragraph. I am not condescendingly criticizing your writing skills here, just making an observation.

Because it was laden with personal insults on another FReeper.

Really, I wondered why that was removed. You didn't happen to make a copy of it, did you? I'd like to read what I said to see if I agree with its removal.

And if I were you, I'd quite bragging about my writing skills.<\i>

No offense, but that is a really stupid thing to say. If you were me then you would behave like me because, well, you would be me. Please show me where I bragged about my writing skills. It was South 40 who bragged about his writing skills; said they were superior to mine. That's okay, I turned the other cheek. (I considered the source)

Yours aren't all that.

Oh, so it's okay if you insult my writing skills. Mine aren't all that what? What, no courage to finish the insult? Afraid some moderator is going to delete this brilliant post of yours?

So,

Placing the word So, at the beginning of a sentence implies that you are about to make a summation of your ideas. Not to be picky, and please understand that unlike you I am not insulting your writing skills, but it helps to lay out ideas if before you try to summarize them.

that glass house you're dwelling in is getting a little more fragile.

If I'm not mistaken, you're the one who put me in this glass house so I must assume that it is your fabrication and if so, how fragile it is is more your fault than mine. I'm just living here.

I got into a fight with my older sister back when Clinton got elected. We didn't speak for about a year. She said her vote went to Clinton, because Al gore was better looking VP candidate that the Republicans had on their ticket. I told her that she should have her voting privileges taken away for being so stupid.

You should have told your sister that she gave you the most reasoned, thoughtful, and deep reason for voting for a democrat that a democrat voter had ever presented.
