Wow a 20 minute “firefight” with one guy and a gun. He sounds like a badass. Well, sounded like a badass.
It will be years—if ever, before we learn what went on that day. This administration is built on lies and deception, and I don’t see that changing.
I didn't think ANYBODY could screw up the aftermath of killing bin Laden.
Shrug. I’ll ask Pat Tillman’s parents how accurate the DoD is when it comes to a narrative.
All the different versions of this raid make releasing the photo of a dead OBL crucial.
Obviously they’re focus-grouping different versions of the story.
You know, if W had changed the tune so many times, you’d be hearing all kinds of cries of “Bush Lied and Osama Died” or some such business. In fact, in cases where Bush never changed his story, and British intelligence officials reiterated that what Bush said was exactly what they found to be true, the democrats still say Bush Lied.
I'm pretty sure the Military and the CIA would have wanted the raid and it's results kept secret at least for a few days to maximize the value of the intelligence obtained. But nooo, Obama had to have his touchdown spike right away.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I better see the photos before I give an opinion..
This is beginning to take on all the aspects of Obama's Birth Certificate fiasco.
I just want to know where Waldo was when this all happened.
Some intense fire fight! :roll eyes:
Were the SEALS’s able to recover Bin Laden’s signed copy of Dreams From My Father?
Just curious.
Well now we have about 15 versions of the big take down. I don’t really care which one is true but you would think that the Director of the CIA and the Secretary of Defense could put together one cogent accurate report of the event. Its a sad commentary on an amateurish administration.
I don’t care if it were a gun in every hand, only one with a gun, or none at all. As long as bin Laden is dead and none of our SEALs were injured, I’m thankful.
The sole shooter in the al-Qaida leader’s Pakistani compound was quickly killed in the early minutes of the commando operation, details that have become clearer now that the Navy SEAL assault team has been debriefed, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the record.
Even if this is true so what? Did these people not know how to put their hands in the air? I can’t believe a team of highly trained Seals would shoot someone who is surrendering.
Cheers
Mel
Supposedly the Pakistanis have refused access by U.S. government to these people. It would be interesting (and quite possible) that the Pakistanis will put together a compilation of witness statements and publish them or perhaps even allow media access. Few bullet holes in the walls FWIW.
I applaud the Seals but the after action fact releases by the Administration is an abysmal comedy of errors and misstatements akin to the gang who couldnt shoot straight (unlike the Seals who shot very straight).
This report has been clarified. The rest of them were legged. Which is why the fire fight lasted so long. It's harder to take down legged resistance than it is to overcome armed resistance. This is common knowledge in the military. Patton used to speak of it at length.
