The terse announcement came just after 9:45 p.m. Sunday from Dan Pfeiffer, the White House communications director.
“POTUS to address the nation tonight at 10:30 PM Eastern Time,” he wrote on Twitter, sharing the same message that had just been transmitted to the White House press corps.
According to Brian Williams, the “NBC Nightly News” anchor, some journalists received a three-word e-mail that simply read, “Get to work.”

That speculation was not aired out on television immediately, but it did erupt on Twitter and other social networking sites.
Wishful thinking about bin Laden’s death ricocheted across the Web — and then, at 10:25 p.m., while Mr. Obama was writing his speech, one particular tweet seemed to confirm it. Keith Urbahn, the chief of staff for the former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld, wrote at that time, “So I’m told by a reputable person they have killed Osama Bin Laden. Hot damn.”

The Virginia-based Navy SEAL Foundation, which helps the families of SEALs, says their donations have surged dramatically since the news of the raid.

I am surprised by Panetta...he use to be a snake. I don’t trust any of them quite frankly. But I would certainly trust Panetta and Clinton more than Obama and Jarrett in the worse case scenario. I don’t trust the CIA anymore since they spent years undermining President Bush.
I DO trust our military over all of them...always!

When he was strictly a political advisor, Panetta was a snake -- in the best tradition of establishment Democrats.
But, when he's been given a responsible job to do, Panetta seems to have acted as pretty much a straight-up guy.
One thing is for sure: Pannetta is a Clintonista of long standing...and that he and Hillary would be allies comes as no surprise.
Okay, I totally get that the MSM is the propaganda arm of the left. Yes—that much is obvious! However, what I’m wondering is if there isn’t at least one press person whose love of life and self-preservation instinct can’t override his/her ideological servitude.
I’m wondering, specifically, if not even one of them listened to Barry’s childish drivel about cool phones in the WH and had a sinking feeling deep inside. It’s obvious Barry envisioned being POTUS as a combination of James Bond and the Commander of the Starship Enterprise. Coming from a grown man, that is S.C.A.R.Y.
Here’s an example. Suppose liberals and conservatives are all aboard a huge cruise liner. Let’s say the name is the Titanic. Prior to casting off, a fierce debate over the choice of captains pitted the two groups against each other. The liberals won out, and installed a young, cool [all this from their POV only], hip, inexperienced captain. After all, he looks so good in the uniform!
What I’m saying is, the sea has turned treacherous, icebergs cropping up, and the captain is wondering aloud why his control room doesn’t look more like something Jules Verne would cook up.
Granted, most liberals would smile indulgently and remark that he’s too cool even for the role of captain. But isn’t there at least one, somewhere, who has begun to worry about going down with the ship?
Maybe not. But it seems like that spiel about Trekkie phones at the WH should have been a wake-up call. You can I can debate whether he’s borderline insane or psychotic, but isn’t there at least one prominent liberal wondering whether he’s competent enough even to avoid the next iceberg???

Did OUR Navy Seals kill Osama or is it some huge conspiracy by just about everyone?
I am sure that our heroic Navy Seals killed someone - whether it was Osama Bin Laden or someone who looked like him and was related, I am not in a position to know. I don’t even have an opinion one way or another, I’m just a tiny civilian without any way to know.
Whatever the Seals did was heroic, and worthy of honor.
And whatever the usurper did or said is disgustingly evil and 100% dishonorable. And I am sure that he had no part in the Seals’ action whatsoever.
“Liberal” means “someone who is borderline (or over the border) mental case”.
Although I am sure there is division in the Dem camp because they know Zero is a failure. But that just means they’ll throw their weight and their words behind a Dem they think will win.
They have no interest in truth or the real well being of the country.
I disagree with the “heros welcome parade” for these guys.
In fact- as far as I’m concerned we should only have known that a “special ops force” conducted this raid. I don’t like it one bit that we know as much as we do about who carried this out (don’t we have Joe Biden to thank for that info?).
I think it’s vital to keep these guys unknown and anonymous heros...you can bank on the fact that some islamist operatives are currently trying to track them down.
Rush was talking about the fact that there are some who should know, who consider that Bin Laden has been dead for some years.
If you personally have some evidence one way or another maybe you could let us on FR know.

This story regarding whether or not the SEALs were specifically instructed to kill UBL has now officially gotten out of control. Obama is trying to have his cake and eat it too, and in so doing, he has completely buddy f***ed the SEAL Teams.
Already stories are being written by Obama syncophants and AQ sympathizers implicating the SEALs as essentially murdering an unarmed man.
Meanwhile, on background, more “Senior Administration Officials” are saying that POTUS ordered the SEALs to assassinate bin Laden, but there’s more:

The administration had made clear to the military’s clandestine Joint Special Operations Command that it wanted bin Laden dead, according to a senior U.S. official with knowledge of the discussions.

They are following explicit orders of the President of the United States, but Obama does not have the sac to stand behind his decision and support the very people who are responsible for the only foreign policy victory of his Presidency.
Sure, Obama is content to accept the congratulations from the media and his supporters for his “gutsy” decision, but when the rubber meets the road he says, “Hey thanks SEALs for killing bin Laden like I told you to. But you didn’t expect me to stand behind you when my left wing media starts going after you as murderers? Oh you did? How cute.”
This is the most disgusting and craven betrayal of leadership that I have ever seen.
Also, where is the NSW Leadership? JSOC? They are keeping their mouths shut like good little soldiers while their own men are trampled underfoot and mischaracterized as having unilaterally decided to shoot an unarmed man despite following explicit orders to do so. Way to go.

Squandering Our Victory

Just like everybody else, the news that Navy SEALs had infiltrated Pakistan and shot Usama bin Laden in the face really brightened my evening.
I decided to celebrate with a Patel Brothers cigar and two fingers of Jack Daniels. Of course my heart was especially bursting with pride at the news that my brothers on the East Coast got the call and executed their mission flawlessly despite crashing a helointo the compound.
If you have to be in a helo crash, you are far better off being in one piloted by a Nightstalker of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) because frankly nobody on the planet even comes close to how good those guys are.
This is an operation that I have dreamed of being a part of for nearly 10 years, and I have fantasized about rolling up on a target to find UBL in my sights. I am fairly certain that I know somebody on that assault force, and I look forward to the East Coast UDT/SEAL Reunion this summer and sharing a cold one with some of the boys.
By now, May 3, 2011, the stories about how this successful operation is going to ensure a Barack Obama victory in 2012 are legion. I even got an email to that effect on the night of the 1st when we were all basking in the afterglow of UBL’s demise.
I’ll admit the thought had crossed my mind, but I dismissed it immediately secure in the knowledge that if any POTUS could f-— this up, he was sure to be The One.
Right on schedule, the Administration has already put out several conflicting versions of actions on the objective, and I have yet to see somebody from the military nay the SEAL community on a podium at the Pentagon laying out the operation and answering (or not answering) questions.
The Bush Administration was very good at this, and when some major military operation took place, the White House would direct the media to the Pentagon where some General or Admiral held a press conference often with video clips and some Powerpoint slides showing some the mission highlights.
The Bush White House was happy to let the experts handle things and show a unified front.
