BARKHAMSTED,Conn. -- A hybrid electric Chevrolet Volt believed to have sparked an overnight blaze in a garage in Barkhamsted last week, reignited again on Monday.

The state fire marshal's office is investigating how the electric car parked at a Center Hill Road home caught fire Monday morning.

Last week, homeowners Storm Connors and his wife, Dee, woke up to the sound of a smoke alarm around 4 a.m.

The couple's garage, where they parked their new Chevrolet Volt hybrid, was on fire. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze. A firewall built between the home and the garage saved their home.

Investigators with the state fire marshal's office and the couple's insurance company, at the time, suspected the hybrid car have had something to do with the blaze.

On Monday morning, firefighters were called back to the home when the car caught fire again.

Why can’t they simply name the Volt something relevant like Chevy Fire or Xplode?

‘Today, Chevy is proud to announce the re-branding of their most successful plug in hybrid car... The Volt will now be known as the Phoenix!’

— How revolting.

Just a gosh darn minute! I don’t think the fire is the only thing that should be under investigation, purely in the interest of truth and understanding, that is.

One would have to be concerned about the fusing and control circuitry in that bad boy, especially the field coil.

I’m thinking he drove it for a month.
Then it caught fire.
Then he called the insurance agent. “What do you mean it’s not totalled!?”
Then it caught fire. Again.

I always wonder about those things. There’s a huge windfarm along I-65 just north of Layayette, IN ( Purdue ) which extends for about ten miles along the highway. There seems to be hundreds of them. Sometimes they aren’t even turning, or turning lazily. Other times they are turning, but then I’m thinking, “OK, they’re turning, what then?” and I start doing all these calculations in my head, but then I forget about them. I just can’t see that they amount to anything useful.

Ever buy an electric floor heater or electric blanket, as they get older, due to the heavy current they pull, the cords start getting warm or hot and then need to be replaced as fire hazards...if your smart!

I dont see how a house(the wiring), especially an older or barely to specs house, is any different when you plug a car(electric heater or blanket) into it!
