**Artist Showcase**

Avenged Sevenfold is an American rock band from Huntington Beach, California. Formed in 1999, the group consists of vocalist M. Shadows, lead guitarist Synyster Gates, rhythm guitarist Zacky Vengeance, bassist Johnny Christ.

Avenged Sevenfold emerged with a metalcore sound on their debut Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, which included primarily screamed vocals. The band changed their style on their third album and first major label release, City of Evil, which featured more of a hard rock style. The band continued to explore new sounds with their self-titled release and enjoyed continued mainstream success before their drummer, James "The Rev" Sullivan, died of heart disease and combined effect of drugs and alcohol in his body in 2009. Despite his death, the band continued on with help of now-former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy and released and toured in support of their fifth album Nightmare in 2010 which debuted on the top spot of the Billboard 200, a first for the band.

Aloha, Hawaii...((HUGS))...hope you have a sunny, wahine weekend. We are overcast, but still above 32. Not much sun the last couple days, but really bad statewide weather/wind.

Aloha Night Owl!

I'd really like to see a sunny day here for change....but it's not likely. Smiles and hugs from a couple young wahines would chase away the rainy weather blues though.

While we worry over things like Foggy Bottom, the weather, taxes and the bothersome news, they don't. I asked them what's important to them in life and their replies were....Pizza, the beach, Grammy's cookies and juice and the little motorcycle that my son bought for them.

I think they've got their priorities straight.

Aloha Seadog!

I don't live in California. Was born there, went to a bunch of schools there when my career Navy father's ships were home ported there, earned about a buck eighty-five a week selling the Sunday edition of the L.A. Examiner and a bunch more money catching rattlesnakes and lizards in San Pedro, went to several service school there when I was in the Navy and while I wouldn't mind revisiting San Diego and Monterey again, I tend to avoid the state.

I was a Navy Brat and lived where ever the tide came in or the tail wind blew but my family's home was upstate NY.

We had a storm like the one that hit Capitola a while back. Never mind the sea waves, the real damage was caused by heavy rains on the volcano, causing flash flooding down hill.

Aloha BIGLOOK!

Sorry to hear of your flooding there. I hope you escaped serious damage. I suspect that what would pass for a torrential downpour here, would be classified as light afternoon sprinkles there, but we got a little more in late March, and more quickly, than we’re used to, so I suppose everything is relative. We didn’t get flooded at our place, but I got a few yards of ‘new dirt’ in my front yard, down from the hill across the street and from the neighbor’s orchard, and the clean gutters on the house were all overflowing - pretty unusual for us.

Dear Wife and I spent a very nice relaxing ten days on Hawaii a few years back - Did the drive-around and took our time. Stayed at bed-n-breakfast places in Volcano, Hilo, then one up on the NE shore, and finally back to Kona - a good memory for us. Have been to Oahu a couple of times, but always liked Hawaii better.

We had an interesting day that day. I'd taken off work to visit my dentist to have a root canal and left home for an early appointment. Couldn't get there, the bridge over a drainage canal was flooded and blocked off. got within fifty yards of the office, parked in an nearby store lot and watched boulders the size of Volkswagen's bouncing down its channel.

Tsunamis and flash floods. Over here, you never turn your back on the sea.....but you also can never turn your back on the mountain either.
