My acog is the one set up for 6.8 with BDC lines; but I never use them. What I find excellent is the red horse shoe ghost ring that surrounds the red dot. At 100 yards, the ghost ring is 8 inches or just covers the outline of blk circle of target. That ghost ring is the ticket for quick shots, pull up bang; all in one motion. I just was never quite as quick getting good shots off on moving game as I am with that ghost ring. Only problem is that 5-6 hundred yards, the ghost ring is like 8-9 foot, but I have always got caribou at that distance with several quick shots and they dropped on the spot.

Mine is the 4X32 and I luv it. I'd buy more acogs, but a friend told me that after 6-7 years, the illumination degrades and you have to have it recharged which today costs $400, spendy; not an easy keeper for sure. How long have you noticed until an acog's illumination getting weak? I've bought 2 leupold tacticals that were same price as acogs over this issue.

I'm going to pick up a 308 AR when I see a deal on AK List. I've also looked at a couple 338 Lapuas; Sako, Savage, and Armalite. Which one is the way to go?

Geez, don’t ask me calibers, you know WAY more than I do at that end!

I like the ring around the dot on my EOTech. And as long as I have batteries, I’m good to go. I guess the TEOTWAWKI question is, will there still be batteries by the time the ACOGs go dim??
