Border crossing deaths prompt public warnings

Spurred by three recent border-crossing deaths linked to frigid weather, Border Patrol officials in San Diego aim to work with Mexican agencies to create public-service announcements detailing the dangers of illegally entering the United States.

“They are ill-prepared for the weather they encounter,” said Steven Pitts, spokesman for Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector. “A lot of them lack proper footwear or layered clothing. It’s the same in the summer — we find they lack proper water, clothing.”

An unusual cold spell pushed the death toll so far this year to nearly half of San Diego border-crossing deaths in 2010.

The Border Patrol runs public-service TV and radio campaigns in Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala. Now, the San Diego Sector plans to create a local media campaign that would include new warnings posted along the border fence.

So the government is allegedly broke, and yet it has money to waste padding the pockets of Mexican radio and TV station owners.

Why should we care about the welfare of people who cross the border? If someone wants to enter the USA legally, then that person can, on their own, find out what items to bring for the trip.

Of course if they enter illegally just shoot them.

Weather warnings? Need warnings of U.S. Hunter Killer teams operating in area. Perhaps the criminal invaders will stay home.

We need to be giving warnings that our armed Border Patrol will shoot on sight. And mean it.

Get control of the border and the Mexicans won’t die here.

Weather Warnings?

There SHOULD be be warnings that Apache Helicopters with Mini-Guns are overhead and have orders to fire at will.

After a few dozen KIAs, maybe that'd get their attention -- Paso de frontera prohibido!

When I can't believe what I have learned the day before something comes the next day and kicks me again. Giving our law enforcements “bean bags” to defend themselves, have we gone totally nuts letting the president decree this?

Was thinking more along the lines of M2 BMG and MK-19 40 mike mike. But, hey, those weapons guys are smart. If they can develop a bean bag with a kill radius of 12-15 meters I’d go for that :P

We need to deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border with armed troops, a fence and a wall, and have a lethal response to anyone who tried to re-enter illegally.
