As a former North Dakotan, I'm proud of my state. The Sioux tribe closest to the UND Campus at Ft. Totten, has always supported the name. They wear the UND gear as proudly as good Catholics wear the Notre Dame Fighting Irish gear.

The other big Sioux tribe at Ft. Yates, down on the South Dakota line, just recently voted out a PC Tribal Council which was trying to extract more than the usual goodies from UND as a condition for their support.

I suspect the new tribal council will get around to supporting their cousins up north at Ft. Totten before long.

Agreed.. New Tribal council will allow the people of the reservation to vote on the issue, which old one never allowed because they knew they would lose.
