NEW YORK Dr. Bernard N. Nathanson, an obstetrician who oversaw the performance of about 75,000 abortions before becoming a leading pro-life advocate and a convert to the Catholic faith, died after a prolonged battle with cancer this morning in New York. He was 84.
After performing his last abortion in 1979 and declaring himself to be pro-life, Nathanson produced the 1985 film The Silent Scream, which shows sonogram images of a child in the womb shrinking from an abortionists instruments, and the documentary film Eclipse of Reason, which displays and explains various abortion procedures in graphic detail. Both films had a significant impact on the abortion debate, solidified his credentials among pro-life advocates and earned him the scorn of his former pro-abortion friends and colleagues.
He also published a number of influential books, including Aborting America, written in 1979 with Richard Ostling, then a religion reporter for Time magazine, in which he exposed the deceptive and dishonest beginnings of the pro-abortion movement and undermined the argument that abortion is safe for women.

hmmm... I don't think you're going to hell for being an agnostic. That's between you and God.
Praising this guy for the work he did afterwards is only due.
Is he going to hell for what he did? I don't know -- that's between him and God. He needed to have squared things up with the big guy, just like we all need to.

Ah, Gamecock — here is another thread that we could say can show the solidarity of Christians. Pity post 50 goes against that feeling.

Well spoken, whether Baptist or Catholic or Presbyterian or other, this man found Christ’s free gift of salvation and accepted it.

It is not justice. It is mercy, which God is ready to rain down on the repentant faithful without ceasing.
well put hinckley. And I read that so much in Job -- where the Assyrians who had been persecuting the Israelites for a long time and who were capable of horrific atrocities, yet God forgave them -- all of their sins. As you correctly put it, it was not justice but mercy.

Yes, HITHL, Dr. N once said how he “delivered babies on one floor, and then went to another floor of the hospital to abort them”. I am eternally grateful that I was on the ‘right floor’.
God rest his soul.
