Harry Baals building unlikely
Despite garnering far more support in an online poll than the thicket of other suggestions, residents shouldn’t expect Fort Wayne’s new government center to be named after one of the city’s longest tenured mayors.
I hear it was a long, hard campaign.

This is attention-whore stuff. One wonders, was the man’s legal first name ‘Harry’ or was that a nick for Harold? One figures Harold Baals wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow, but then that would have required a few Fort Wayne folk to have spoken the name out loud once, thought for a moment and then come up with the alternative.

They should make all the contenders happy and name the building "Baals and All".

I had a science teacher in 6th grade whose name was “Harry Bottoms”. I doubt there will ever be a building named after him, either......

Unfortunate name. Junior high must have been a bummer.

Maybe they could name the building with synonyms, like “the hirsute hoedowns building”, or “the furry orbs building”.
