The situation will not get better until we allow people (yes, even children) to be at serious risk of dying in alleys. If you can support yourself 100%, fine. If a church or charity can help you, great. Government funds? Housing? Food? Energy? HA! You get nothing, and we'll see what happens to you.

But we are too kind. We don't have the stomach for it. And so generation after generation sinks lower, living and perpetuating lives that no human should have.

We are cruel because we try to be kind.

These things, when not controlled by religion or culture, are the most dangerous things in human history, the destroyer of civilizations.

Actually, I'd say that we are cruel because we abandon God's Law.  The Ten Commandments and other laws set forth in the Bible weren't put there for no reason. Whether you are a believer or not, I do not see how you can argue with the Ten Commandments as being something that will not result in a healthy and prosperous society.
