House leader Cantor believes Obama is a US citizen (doesn't say "natural born")
AP/Yahoo ^ | 1/23/11

The new Republican House majority leader says he doesn't think questions about President Barack Obama's citizenship should play a role in the discussion of policy matters.

Two years into the Obama administration, so-called birthers continue to argue that Obama isn't a natural-born citizen and that he hasn't proved he's constitutionally qualified to be president. Birth records in Hawaii haven't dissuaded them.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor says he believes Obama is a citizen and that most Americans are beyond that question.

"I don't think it's an issue that we need to address at all. . It is not an issue that even needs to be on the policy-making table right now whatsoever," he said.

Appearing Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," Cantor refused to call people who question Obama's citizenship "crazy."

"I don't think it's nice to call anyone crazy," Cantor said

Cantor says he believes that Obama wants what's best for the country and that there are honest disagreements over how to achieve that.

Birthers say there's no proof he was born in the United States; many of these skeptics question whether he was actually born in Kenya, his father's home country.

Hawaii's health director said in 2008 and 2009 that she had seen and verified Obama's original vital records, and birth notices in two Honolulu newspapers were published within days of Obama's birth at Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu.

Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo again confirmed on Friday that Obama's name is found in its alphabetical list of names of people born in Hawaii, maintained in bound copies available for public view.

This is interesting because of Cantor's choice of words. He didn't say "natural born citizen" -- just "citizen" -- and when given an opportunity to denounce birth certificate skeptics, he did not do so.

Also look at the last paragraph in the extract posted. Has anybody ever seen a picture of the names in the birth register? (I know that is not prima facie evidence, but I haven't seen an image of his name in a register -- if that is available for public view, there should be an image of that register page available)

Tomato or Tomoto? Cantor is just another establishment politician who will say and weasel around an issue with the proper “words” so not to make a principled stand on any issue. Just remember how much of a hawk he was before the election and almost immediately afterwards started his word games?

I just had this same thought, and came here to post it. Those words have been rolling around in my head. As I said yesterday, I have certified copies of my birth certificate and I would put this to rest once and for all if you called me out ... I would shove a copy in your face. The solution is easy.

...”remove the life time pension for those jobs and see how many lawyers want them”...

The pensions need to be the first thing to go. It is insulting and almost criminal to grant pensions to these congressmen/women after only, I believe, a year of service. If most Americans understood this, it would stop immediately. I just read HARRY TRUMAN’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE which is the story of a car trip he and Bess took after he left office. He had none of these rich perks. At the end of the book, a comparison is made between what he received as an ex-President and what President’s today receive..Today, the only word I can think of to describe the rich money flow to the President, Ex-Presidents and members of Congress is OBSENE. They are all lawyers, folks, and they are milking our system for personal gain in a way we have never seen before.

Cantor is turning into a real disappointment.

Another pure fiscal conservative with nothing else behind him.

Yes — I agree with both of you. Obamas’ deception —his birth status ought not be a factor in policy matters. The fact that he once seems to have admitted he was not eligible—but took the job anyhow— the fact that he has promised transparency and honesty—and given us the same tired and failed Soviet Communist policy I can see No policy he has advocated that serves the greater good. The fact that he is not a natural born citizen ought not be a factor in policy - Americans I hear have never cared much for holding their own to such high standard. But the fact that every policy he has produced-the fruit he has produced has been bitter and rotten and that very much ought be factor in policy matters. Those who take pleasure in him are judged as being party to his sin.

What a crock of sh**. Once again, Yahoo News is misreporting what was said. This is what she actually said :

" The index is just to say who has their records within the department. That's an indication, " Okubo said. "I can't talk about anyone's records. "

She never said the index was a list of names of people born in Hawaii. It is just a list of names of people that have records within the department

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor says he believes Obama is a citizen and that most Americans are beyond that question.

Why does Eric Cantor even bring up this subject? Why not say nothing? Does he know something that he does not think the public can handle?

It seems that many people state that Obama is a citizen of the USA, and that we citizens should leave it at that. Why?

We know nothing about this man, his passport, his college grades, irregularities in his social security number, his draft status, his grade school experience, his writings, and on and on.

Okay, Eric, we believe that Obama is a citizen.

Interesting to see that no one at AP wanted to take credit for this piece of tripe.

British newspapers are now unafraid to call the Kenyan usurper's natural born citizenship an open question, but the AP propagandists instead simply list the Obamaites' talking points.
