RIP
May this brave man RIP.
RIP
At ease, Major Winters. Bravo Zulu.
Sad news, yet not unexpected I’m afraid. The people of that generation will always be my heros for defeating the enemies sworn to subjugate us during World War II.
I wonder what became of the attempt to get him the Medal of Honor for his gallantry at Brecourt Manor?? And I also wonder IF the lame steam media will report on his death?
His words and actions should be seen and studied because he is a role model to which few will ever be able to conform.
When he is compared to the present commander in chief, the latter doesn’t even register on the scale.
Perhaps 25-years ago, while attending an unrelated alumni gathering, I had what became a singular pleasure in talking at length with a guy taking a break from a nearby veterans reunion. Years later I came to realize that “Dick” was Richard Winters.
During our chat, I found Richard Winters to be a remarkable and unassuming man. Sure put this Snuffy at his ease. My impression was validated years later in viewing his steady demeanor during various interviews.
Currahee Major, You Stand Alone No More.

Oh, me! So sad!!
Salutes Sir! A brave and honorable man deserves nothing less than our very best salute.
So sorry to hear that. Soon they’ll all be just a memory of history. We need to continue to let them know how greatful we are to them. We don’t have much time. RIP Major Winters. :(
RIP Soldier.
In the 1990s, Major Winters and I had a correspondence going for a while. He sent me some great information that he had about him and his men. I still have all that material with the books about those men. He and my mom had the same birthday. He was one year older than she. Both gone now. God bless you Major Winters.
