MIAMI Nearly one-fourth of recent high school graduates who try to join the Army fail its entrance exam, painting a grim picture of an education system that produces graduates who can't answer basic math, science and reading questions, according to a study released Tuesday.
The report by The Education Trust bolsters a growing worry among military and education leaders that the pool of young people qualified for military service will become too small...
--snip--
The report found that 23 percent of recent high school graduates applying for the Army don't get the minimum score needed on the enlistment test. Questions are often basic, such as: "If 2 plus x equals 4, what is the value of x?"...

Minorities hardest hit. Read it and weep after billions and billions spent on education since Carter.
It's only about 8 pages minus initial padding and references. All services take Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery(ASVAB). The Armed Forces Qualification Test(AFQT) score is derived from different parts of the ASVAB, IIRC.
Doesn’t the law say we have to change the test so minorities can get just as good a grade as others?
I remember a Navy recruiter telling how a inner city High School Valedictorian could not pass the Entrance exam. This was twenty or so years ago. I see things have not improved.
Embarassing that so many cannot pass the ASVAB. It is not that difficult a test.
The Air Force must be really hurting, as they usually require a very high ASVAB score to enlist.
Blame can be shared with the Dem presidents and also the Bushes....who worked with Dems to get Big-Government programs like Goals 2000 and No Child Left Behind passed
perfect democrats!
The mission is almost complet
they have to rach 50% to attain sustainable and permanent majrity
then they just outlaw and shoot conservatives. Like they shot people who didnot want russia to go communist. And China. And Vietnam. And Korea. And every other current hell hole that used to be a productive society
This is great news. The army haven’t dumbed down their standards.
I don’t see that. Service people actually have to do something.
You local teacher’s union sewing the seeds of ignorance but collecting big bucks. Behold the results: ignorance that is beyond belief.
“This is great news. The army havent dumbed down their standards.”
Ah, but they have. Yes, it’s that bad.
Geez, no wonder they can't answer these stupid questions. They're mixing spelling with math. X isn't even a number. /s
2 + X = 4
obviously X = 0
can I be a Dimocrat voter?
But I’m sure they have high self esteem.
Indeed, the "education establishment" has a great many "bad things" to answer for. From Dewey on to the present day, they have betrayed their trust and this nation.
And they have the unmitigated gall to ask for still MORE resources and money to do a lousy, rotten job.
Back when I joined, the minimum ASVAB score to get into the Army was about 19, the Navy was about 25, the Air Force was about 35, and the Marines was about 40.
I scored a 98.
Easy solution:
Increase taxes and dump more money into the school systems.
Next question?
Throw in the queers and that oughta pretty well decimate the military, which is the goal.
There's your problem.
***Doesnt the law say we have to change the test so minorities can get just as good a grade as others?***
Maybe whe should change the enterance exam to the one Blondie and Tuco Benito Pacifico Juan Maria Rameriz (AKA The Rat) took!
