Note: Thus far humblegunner has been compiling the ping list. I am doing research and plan to write a summary for group consideration. Neither humblegunner nor myself are attempting to manage this effort. All ideas are welcome.

To move forward, we have to make some decisions. That's the purpose of this thread.

"Saturday night, December 18, 2010, Jim floated the idea of forming a political action committe to organize an effort to defeat the RINOs in the upcoming 2012 and 2014 Congressional elections."

Well, let's go RINO hunting!

Add me to the list.

I'm interested. PACs of course are a bit laborious in terms of reporting, but the good news is that the $5,000 cap has been lifted by judicial decision, so you can raise a ton of money at the moment.

Sweet.

I'll do whatever I can to get the RINOs out of Congress.

I'll keep reading this thread for more information.

I’m mailing you a book I wrote on political psychology tomorrow, and this is discussed. If my fundamental theory on the origins of our political psychology is correct, for maximum effect, you need to gather funds from a broad fundraising base and then select only a few races to apply them to.
By taking all your funds, and giving them to, say for example’s sake, one Conservative in a Republican Primary, opposite an incumbant RINO, you force that one RINO to either lose the primary, or blow all his money fending off a very well financed primary challenger. Having blown his money, he is then at a gross disadvantage in the general, and likely to lose. Either way, you win, because it is his loss you need.
Now you have established that the single most RINO candidate, as you see it, will be a certain goner in each election cycle. As every RINO tries to make sure they are not that certain goner, they will all begin to pull back, each one trying to be less of a RINO than the next so as to avoid the axe, and all of them getting more Conservative. You will create a competition among them to not be the most moderate.
One can make a strategic argument for a broad based, poll driven attack on candidates everywhere, but if I am right about the psychology, then creating one certain political career death per cycle would have more of an effect than 50 or 60 possible career deaths.
Of course in reality, if your fundraising is big enough, you can do two or three, or maybe more, but you are better off consolidating your forces, to the point you are getting certain kills, to establish your political lethality, even if it looks as if it will take longer initially.
Everybody will think they can survive a maybe, if you average 50%. But even a single certain kill each cycle, taking away one, or two, or three “moderate”’s political jobs, will drive everyone back from that line, so as to be farther from it than the next guy. Remember, RINO’s have no principles, they are about themselves. Make them think the most moderate one will get it, and they will have a race against each other to get back away from that moderate line, and they will all become more Conservative.

A Pitchfork Action Committee would be the best news, but any advance of FR into new territory or methods is a very, very good thing!

Helllllllllllloooooo, we already are a PAC. In 2000, we got out and got the vote. We can do it again without anything more than our voices, the ability to read and write. Just ask Jim or Kristin or US Conservative or GRRRRR or Grendel or Bad Joe or Alamo Girl or Bob J or anyone of a dozen people who have been here since the begininning. We are Political Action!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, please add me to the list.

Seems like the value of FR is in the awareness and news distribution. Not sure how much pull we could have in the big-mo arena.

So the fundraisers for FR.com have been, what? About $80k/quarter?

$250k/year? Roughly.

So if FR PAC could match the FR budget/take, let's say, that's 3-4 30 second prime TV commercial ad buys, neglecting cost of creating the ad. Drop-in-bucket.

If FR PAC raised 10x that amount, then it would still be less than half as much money as Christine O'Donnell spent for her single race.
