Okay, first things first. In order to set up a “Nonconnected” PAC, we must designate a Committee Treasurer whose name and address will be public information; We’ll need to select a bank to handle our account/funds; We’ll need an address for the Committee; We must file with he FEC before we collect or spend $1000.
If we need attorneys to handle/file the federal paperwork, do you want to use FR’s regular attorneys or should we plan to find another firm? I know several FReepers who are attorneys. Maybe they’ll do it pro bono or at cost.
I want the chance to try to engage Brices Crossroads for his input. No finer legal mind on the whole of FR with a quick grasp of every issue. I read where you want you write a summary and I think that’s a grand idea. Like Red Steel, I would also prefer to print it. I’ve made a separate file of notes and links, but haven’t had time to compose anything like a summary, so maybe it’s best that you write yours and we can add our ideas (if any). Perhaps Brices Crossroads would be willing to read it and offer opinions and suggestions.
After a run, I thought I’d write a report of the fines the FEC has handed out to PACs so FR does not make the same mistakes. I noticed yesterday that the Hillary Clinton PAC once were fined about $21 grand. Be back in a few or so again.
