Snub for Obamas as Royal sources reveal they will not be invited to Prince William's wedding

President Obama and his wife Michelle will not be invited to Prince William's wedding next year. Because Prince William is not yet heir to the throne, his wedding to Kate Middleton is not classed as a ‘state occasion’ – and the couple feel under no pressure to fill the 2,000-strong guest list with heads of state, the Mail understands. They are more eager to ask ordinary citizens and charity workers than foreign dignitaries and VIPs to what will be the first royal ‘people’s wedding’, courtiers suggested. A handful of heads of state are likely to be invited in line with previous royal weddings, possibly including France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni.

Why would anyone want a narcisstic Communist dictator, a wookie, and a 500-strong Praetorian Guard at their wedding? Talk about disruptive!

They figured they didn’t need to invite the Obamas because they could always barrow the CDs he gave to grandma.

Since when has Sarah went out of her way to invite herself to anything Jackwad! She might be invited to events like these when she’s president in 2013, I know that thought will make your head explode.

Ms. Reagan attended the wedding in place of Reagan because Reagan couldn’t make it.

If one looks at Prince William’s background, he would fall into the more leftist, Tusk Trust camp. Because of this, I am sure Prince William would frown at the Alaskan tradition of hunting and fishing that is enjoyed by the Palin family.

On that specific point, I'm glad to say you're mistaken. William and Harry have both inherited their father's love of shooting game (as it's called here - would be called 'hunting' in the US). A photograph of them out with shotguns on a grouse moor when they were only young teenagers provoked entertaining indignation from British animal rights, anti-hunting groups.

Never mind the security nightmare and the inevitable upstaging by the Wookie... if the Obamas attended, the royals would have to cut at least 100 people off the invitation list just to make sure there was enough food.

The royal family is often accused of living large at the expense of their subjects, but here it is obvious that they are not interested in enabling abject gluttony and sloth.

LOL - excellent observations! I’m sure they want the press to be focussed on how well William and Kate look, not how awful Michelle Obama looks.

Good find! Then irrespective of Tusk Trust, Prince William would find Sarah Palin a kindred spirit in the love of the hunt.
