Because she support McCain over J.D. Hayworth? He wouldn't have been sworn in until January 3rd, so this would be McCain's RINO swan song and I doubt he would even be paying lip service to the Tea Party.

Sarah Palin didn’t get John McCain re-elected senator from Arizona... John McCain controls the AZ GOP and it was always a huge uphill for JD who, as it turned out, was a terrible candidate... who also had very little money to wage an effective campaign.
