I live on the west coast and don’t know much about Detroit; is the area controlled primarily by one political party?

The city, county and state are dominated by the Democrats. Not just any bunch of Democrats, either, but union-till-they-die Democrats.
It is killing the entire state, not just Detroit. Detroit is merely the eighth circle of hell that is Michigan.
I’ve seen people from Michigan blow into town onto mine sites in Nevada, looking for work after they’ve realized that the auto jobs are NEVER coming back. Well, in one case, there was a guy who wasn’t on the mine site a week before he started asking why there wasn’t a union.
People ‘splained things to him the first time nicely.
He told the people that they were nuts, being in a union would get them so much better pay and bennies.
Then people took him aside again, and explained that if that were true, he’d still be in Michigan, and if he *really* liked being in a union, he could either haul his union ass back to Michigan.... or have it hauled in a hearse for him.
Dunno what became of him, we left the area before I could find out. I rather suspect he was sent packing.
There are union hacks, stupid union hacks and suicidal union hacks.
Michigan is infested with the latter.
