“And for this, I say: Good on ya, Wally World! “

I have always had a good respect for Walmart and their model.
I remember the first Walmart in the Memphis area, and in the 70s I was a manufacture’s rep with Arkansas as part of my territory, and with Walmart headquarters in Bentonville, as a client. They were big then, but still a fraction of what they are today.
I remember the days when they would not open a store in a large city.

I know that there are plenty of snotty nosed FReepers that detest Walmart, but you would be hard pressed to find a better business model that Sam Walton put together.

Yep....it was he...up until his very advanced age kept him from it...who used to visit each and every store in the whole group at least once a year. And woe betide any manager who's store did not measure up in Sam's eyes! I also am given to understand that the visits were not announced ahead of time.

First the store knew about the visit was when Sam walked through the front door!!!

Kind of like the old ORI inspections in the USAF.

Back in the 70s the things that Walmart sold were made here and helped feed American kids. NOTHING stays the same and
Walmart didn’t either. NOW Walmart feeds Chinese kids and that vast flow of money to China has helped to modernize the
Chinese military. That’s not an opinion. That’s a FACT! As is many on Freerepublic, I’m not a Walmart “Hater”. I just
dont’t shop there. Americans wanted cheap goods and Walmart said, “Ok here they are”. Some of those same American’s didn’t realize that was helping to end their own employment in manufacturing.

Anybody who thinks China won’t use that huge modernized military to try and dominate the Western Pacific Rim, needs to wake up and wipe the poo poo from their eyes.

Here’s another FACT. What goes around COMES around. The healthier members of the Walton family and Walmart execs
might live long enough to receive the body bags of thier grand-children, who will die at the hands of the Chinese
military, that’s been supercharged from Walmart’s China factories.

Go rent the HBO mini-series “THE PACIFIC”. THAT is your future with China.

That's fine if you approve of treating employees and customers alike with contempt, and helping China eat our economy alive! Shopping at Mal*Wart is anti-American.
