The terrorist attacks on America on September 11, 2001, gave his administration a clear goal and him the resolve to find out who was responsible and "kick their ass," former President George W. Bush writes in his new book.
In "Decision Points," Bush describes his reaction when his then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice informed him of the crash of a third airplane into the Pentagon.
"I sat back in my seat and absorbed her words. My thoughts clarified: The first plane could have been an accident. The second was definitely an attack. The third was a declaration of war," the former president writes in his 481-page book, which goes on sale Tuesday.
"My blood was boiling. We were going to find out who did this, and kick their ass," Bush writes.
"In a single morning, the purpose of my presidency had grown clear: to protect our people and defend our freedom that had come under attack."

Nah, that was tough love.
I thought the same thing at that time. The first two planes into the WTC could have been an attack by a small group of crazies with a grudge. The third and fourth planes headed for the Capitol/White House and Pentagon made it crystal clear that a well-funded, well-organized enemy had declared war on the United States.
Funny, I don't remember Jamie Gorelick going to prison.
BINGO! And he then continued to allow 20M unknown illegals to run freely in the country and a southern border to remain unsecured.
FAIL
You’re welcome. :-)
I couldn't agree more. GWB's downfall was going soft when toughness was needed the most. His answer to the hangings at Fallujah should have been complete annihilation of the town, followed by "who's next?"
Tora Bora should have been depopulated after all of this. If not Mecca itself. Win first, and then talk.
He wasn’t calling President Bush a worthless scumbag. Do you not understand what ‘/s’ implies at the end of comment? It indicates that the comment preceding it was sarcasm. Like this:
Obama knows what’s good for us even if we don’t. /s
God Bless George W. Bush.
I find this post disgusting.
If you are a conservative..god help us!
All I have to do is to say 4 words; “President Gore”, “President Kerry” and my votes for Bush’43 are resoundingly affirmed! You cannot elect that which is not there. I don’t think that John McCain was a good choice but he did bring out Sarah Palin from obscurity, didn’t he? We must make choices from the menu that we have or else waste them on 3rd parties.
Me three.
I agree. On Sept 12 I would have drawn a big circle in the desert outside of Kabul and said: "Bin Laden. Here. You have 24 hours or you start losing a city an hour, starting with this one, until you comply."
After all, we are "compassionate", are we not?
But only a “bit”. He was almost as bad as his father, and the R party that the Bushes left behind in Texas is a disaster - all hat, no cattle.
It would not have been suicide. What is suicidal is denying that the enemy is Mohammedanism, and has been for 1,300 years. Anyone who actually subscribes the “teachings of the Koran has no place in any civilized country.
Christ loves all of us unconditionally.
You don’t know God or the Bible. God’s WRATH was satisfied by Christ’s perfect sacrifice for those who are saved. God’s Wrath will be poured out on those who refuse Him.
God is perfect, perfect in justice, judgement, wisdom, and love. He’s not some mushy, old fat guy that winks at sin.
I was a big fan of using low yield, tactical neutron bombs on Terrorist concetrations. A couple of strategic weapons blowing up 10,000 feet (as a display of our power and resolve) above Damascas, Teheran, Cairo, Mecca, Gaza City, et. al. would have sent a good message for the rest of Islam on whether to side with the jihadists or peaceful, advanced, WESTERN society.
Kicking ass, an “unpleasant job”?
It depends !!.....
Nope. He was talking about the first plane that hit the WTC. The first could have been an accident. The 2nd was definitely war.
